Hi Guys ,

As I am free for some days , I have decided to do something productive with my time. I have always had a keen interest in learning photoshop but was too lazy to learn anything. I am a complete noob when it comes to using PS or any other similar software . Please recommend me a good Ebook which covers all the basic concepts of photoshop. Also I heard that Video tutorials are a very effective way of learning , so please guide me to any good video tutorials that cover the basics and are available for download. Keep in mind that as of know I just wanna learn the basics of Photoshop so please do not suggest anything which is too complicated. :) Also I would like to know the learning curve for using Photoshop ? How long will it take for me to master the basic concepts ?

Thanks

Bluff~ :)

here is a very nice site if you are a beginner. most of the tutorials cover CS3 and most of them are for n00bies like me who wants to know how to achieve selective sepia effect or do a little of post-processing.

Photoshop Tutorials - Home

:hap2:

Thanks alot for the links guys but now I am confused :P Will give each one of them a try once I get my hands on PS :P

^Haha ... had to do something to kill time :P Surprisingly these kind of threads are highly effective in making one loose the track of the time. Anyways the moment I get my hands on PS , I will start with the tutorials.

Tutorials will only get you so far, at the end of the day, it's upon you to really tinker around the settings in Photoshop to actually understand the nuances of every filter/style/image adjustment setting.

During my graphic design learning days, i frequented another forum, a rather helpful and nice one, called PhotoshopCAFE, you can really learn a lot from there :) link

Thanks a lot for the responses guys , I was wondering if there is also some good E-book , like Photoshop for Dummies or something like that.

^I meant an E-book buddy , anyways nevermind , I got an ebook ... the author is Peter Bauer and the name of the book is Photoshop CS3 for Dummies. I have completed 50 pages so far, Looks interesting and easy but it has covered only the theoretical part till now. Let me read some more , will post my feedback soon :D

All the tutorial sites that have been listed here IMO are only useful when I know atleast the basics of Photoshop. Lets see how far this book or my interest can take me.

Their is one more ebook which i m reading

Photoshop cs3 all in one reference for dummies(9 in 1) by Barbara Obermeirer

Its collection of 9 books...i had started it reading first 40-50 pages were all abt just all tool names what are they used for...and latter on it started to become complex have read ard 300 page out of 785.....but due to some personal problem wasnt able to read for a week and now again i find myself at ground zero.....so again ill start from page 1....earlier also i was lost ard 100 but that time reading again went pretty smooth(while started reading again) becoz i already understood the concept.....

Only downside i find in it is it has given more importance to printing stuff and all its settings related to it as if i m going to place an order for advertisement board...so when i leave that section i find myself cheating....also it gets tougher as i progress.....selections,layers,etc....and find it boring also sometimes......becoz that funda doesnt get into my head easily so looking for video tutorial to explain the same

Anyways will give your book a try and lets see might find that a useful one

^I will PM you the link to the book. Try dividing your book in parts. After you have completed a particular part , practice it in the photoshop ... remember you cannot learn Photoshop in 1 day. Let it take its sweet time but practice daily.

I finally got my copy of photoshop , will be practicing it today , will post the results :P
