letsbuy octroi in mumbai?

just placed an order for sony elm on letsbuy, comes @ 6.5k aftr rcomlsb code, does any1 know how much octroi will be added on that to ship to mumbai

also, just in case, what to do if damaged/defective on arrival?

depends on situation. bluedart guy will call you from the octroi point & tell you the amount payable. if you dont agree, it will be returned to letsbuy. if you agree, he will pay, and give you the octroi receipt (original of bmc) and collect the exact same from you. octroi is 5.5% of the bill value.

Well most of the times they pay it themselves without calling you, which is what has happened with me all this time. They did provide me a receipt for the same though.

as spoken to them, the octroi is to be paid by letsbuy, i have brought things but in mumbai for the same reason because they do not charge octroi in metro cities & in navi mumbai, i mean i bought too many, but not till now,

but octroi is charged in thane & it is 4.5% of the bill amount, ofcourse they also judge the product & do not go blindly what the bill describes.

someone once told me that octroi has started in andheri, but haven't got anyone to confirm yet ?

i am from andheri e, my electronics order have required octroi to be paid by me. but only those delivered by bluedart.

Octroi is there for Mumbai & if you are in Mumbai than it will be charge at Dahisar Check Post ONLY, I had never seen any Octroi check post other than at "Dahisar Check Post" for Mumbai Region. May be one is there at Mulund (another entry point for Mumbai)

Anyone knows what to do if the product is damaged on arrival?

Those who take Cash on Delivery option, do you open the box and use the product before you pay? Do the delivery guys allow that?

there are at dahisar, mulund w x 2, mulund e, airoli, vashi, mumbai port i.e 7 odd

I bought Mobile Handset via Letsbuy.com, the representative Mr.Karthik/Kartik who call me & inform that shipment is dispatched (before that received sms & mail too for same) & while talking also suggest me not to accept shipment if you find it tampered/damaged & immediately call to customer care.

You too may get call as soon as they dispatched yours (do not forget to note down Caller Number & Name).

On arriving of shipment via BleuDart (they called me twice before coming to my place to confirm shipment & latter address) I found that upper brown, LetsBuy.com name printed on, box had 1 rupee coin size hole, it's make me suspicious & I insist on opening of box before paying to BlueDart guy, but he (snatched box from my hand very quickly) refused to handover the box & ask me to pay first & than only he will allow to open it.

I asked him what if product under box is damaged, in return argument, he said what if I refused to accept the product once open by me & refuse to accept giving any excuses, his seniors will blame him for temperament & all will be mess with him. I again told him what if product is misplaced or tempered by any person in transit than he assured that "Sir we are BlueDart & never involved in such ...."

I also found that letsbuy.com name printed white self-adhesive tape not stick in proper manner (uniformly & with proper care) but very firmly & in bulk so the product didn't come out of box easily, on very careful inspection (all before payment & courier guy snatched box) I found that the said tape is stick once & not opened or re-stick by any way so praying good luck for me I paid him & open the box with cross figure, meanwhile BlueDart guy was still standing (after payment & receipt sign-up procedure) & asked me to open the box & assured my self about the product & it's condition (really a welcoming gesture from BlueDart representative as it help me to change my view about him after he snatched box from me) & after removing upper brown box I found New Unopened Seal Pack handset box wrap in bubble sheet which make me happy that Courier Company didn't mess with it & really handle shipment with utmost care to bring the product at my place.

Also good care by Letbuy.com people as I placed order for White but letter change to black & they send exactly as I requested latter, only one problem they need to over come is Requires to Reply Quickly to mail & calls, I asked Mr. Karthik same he said that due to overwhelming response from all over India they face little conjunction.

Over all I has good experience with LetBuy.com & BlueDart... winning DUO :)

Damn, I was asked to pay octroi for my Defy (shipped to nagpur) but I called letsbuy n they said theyll look into it, but didnt get any call so called them again after 3hrs n they asked me to pay octroi but they will give me a voucher of same amount. So all in all Not Bad :hap2:
Off to get it now :ohyeah:

Cash On Delivery (COD):

Letsbuy.com's Cash On Delivery service enables buyers to pay for their goods worth Rs. 50,000 on receiving the consignment. For orders more than Rs.50, 000, the buyers need to make an upfront payment of 10% and the remaining amount, on receiving the goods.

In case of cancellations after the goods are delivered, Letsbuy.com will accept the consignment only if it is not opened or tampered with and would refund the token amount (if paid). Letsbuy.com will not be liable to take back the goods if the package is unwrapped or meddled with.
