Hello all,

Need a TE app supporting both Android & Apple mobiles.
Who will take the initiative?
If it needs funding then we can do crowd funding from among the TE members and incoming TE new members who take enclave plus or reseller upgrades. Just ask them like everybody else pays.
How is this idea.?
It's just cumbersome to browse in phones using the browser. Thats why.

Wasn't there an announcement that Devs are migrating the Forum from Xenforo to another Forum base? Their hands are full rn if it's true, top of this deploying an app is a whole new struggle.

I am using an old TE app on my Android phone though it's support has been stopped. I have been using this app since 5 years or so.
Renegade told not to use it though I has no other choice than to use it as browsing the forum using chrome is getting on my eyes.

The words are small while typing in my realme phone while in app on the same phone since it's in tapatalk format it's easier to see and type.
I'd say wait for the migration and see if that fixes it for you, considering it'd be a new platform.

You could try your experience on some of these websites which are already using the platform TE is going to migrate to: https://trends.builtwith.com/websitelist/Discourse

To me, the text size of the site and the text box is the same.

If the general site text also looks smaller to you, then you may want to increase text size in android settings or increase DPI in developer options.

I agree that browsing on mobile can be inconvenient. I personally don’t log in through my mobile browser, so I always have to open my laptop to check the forum. If an app makes access easier, that would be great!

Also would a PWA be a possible alternative instead of a full app? That way, we can have a mobile-friendly experience without needing an app store release?

Is it?

I'd have never thought it possible because with some other fora it is.

But to my surprise I found the shift from laptop to phone relatively painless with the forum software used here.

Not having any issues with chrome on the S20FE

Oh no, that could change everything

Aren't we moving to a different platform in a few months though?
Would it be wise to make an app on the current one just for these couple of months?

I think we should talk about this once the migration has happened. That way, we can check if the current problems still exist on the new platform, and if so, discuss further.

We really need an Android app for TE. It's a painful thing to access this website using a web browser on Android. The text is so small, some UI elements appear broken or you'll have to switch to Desktop mode (more frustrating). I'm pretty sure we have android developers here who'd be willing to chime in and help for free.

Look at this from this perspective:
Everyone is on their mobile phones all the time or most of the time. Having a TE app means they will be able to access the forums with ease and could engage in topics actively. In my case, I could access TE on my phone easily but I prefer not to because of the inconvenience of opening a browser, typing the URL, zooming in and out to find the login element, and such. So, I only check this forum out twice or thrice in a week because I don't get to use my PC on a daily basis.

If we had an app, it would be so easy to access the forums without doing all of the things I mentioned above. Since our community members will be developing this app, it wouldn't cost anything. The app could be hosted on Github, hence cutting the cost of paying Google to have it on Play Store.
