Long thread, looking at the last few pages and its got to be almost 99% trance here.
Heh, i got tranced out in 99 (Oakie was top of his game then, some PvD, little Tiesto) , trance is good for a few yrs then u get really sick of it, weed might prolong that.
I moved into progressive house till 2002 (digweed, sasha, warren, deep dish), then that started to suck, then it was tech-house (terry lee brown jr, babak shayan, timewriter), mostly german labels. The odd bit of techno here and there. Discovered LTJ Bukem and his good looking label, an enjoyable detour into DnB.
Was always into house, still am, the deeper kind, its the oldest of all the dance genres out there, and even thats getting stale. As far as dance stuff's concerned the 95-02, era is when it all came together, after that, it was just rehash & repeat, does not matter, there will be younger fresher ears to suck it up when the more experienced ones move on. I'm waiting for the next wave, but i ain't hearing it yet, are they out of ideas ?..electro sounds like a throwback to the 80s, too grating, gimme something new.
After 12+ yrs in the EDM scene its all sounding the same now, so theres other bits of electronica that are more interesting, the more contemplative type, stuff u can listen to in the background, lounge, lo-fi, chillout, lower bpms etc. Leave the faster BPMs for the week-ends.
Its refreshing to see such a lot of interest for electronic music here, given that the stuff you hear on local radio is apalling, the lack of any decent clubs or shortage of world class DJs, but thats not a biggie, if the locals guys can get you going i say more strength to them. The web is excellent for filling in the gaps. I'm not knocking the country, it's no better in the US (unless youre' in NYC, SF or Miami which still pales in comparion to europe.)
A radio station i listen to is
proton. An indian site i found that specialises in this sort of thing, as in letting you know when the big guns come over and helps to get in is
submerge.
