avoid scratches & use a good quality DVD to burn like Sony,Moserbaer etc.

but not the cheap ones like AMIGO,NATIONAL etc..

Just handle the disks with care (avoid those nasty scratches!) and keep them in a nice DVD bag. Should be fine then. :)

Well when you want to store any data for a long time then i generally use Moser Baer Platinum DVD's they are scratch proof and have an extra layer to protect the data.

Most of the times i purchase the DVD's in spindles of 50 which i use in a time frame of 3-4 months hence i check date label on the packs and try and take which ever is the latest

for general applications i suggest u use sony or moser baer as the quality is goo enough

Manufacturers claim a disk life of 30 years for standard DVDs. There are special photographer's disks available which claim a shelf life of 100 years with proper storage.

All but the cheapest disks should be good for 5 years at least.

Mftr. date has got nothing to do with this.
As long as the pack is sealed, it's alright !

Although I haven't seen too many people buying Kodak dvds.
Try Sony, Imation, TDK, Verbatim and other popular brands.

Kodak DVDs are of very good quality.

I have heard the life is 20 years. It is definitely better than moser baer and sony.
Life depends upon many factors. But the reliability is very good.

If stored in CD album as shown in above fig (by one of the members) along with Silica Gel (used to remove moisture), then the CDs, DVDs should be safe except for mechanical damage due to improper handling.

Kodak CD gold is also a good quality CD.
moser baer Platinum can also be considered.
I had read about the life of DVDs like varbatim, sony, and other brands, if i find it again, then i will post the link, if my crashed pc is recovered.

Thanks
