Looking for a projector around 30k for Movie watching. (2025)

Hi,

I have been actively looking for a decent projector around 30k in Indian market.
I have ended up with Wzatco Legend pro and Borosso Ultima Gen 3. However I don't have first hand experience with any kind of projector, I am curious if these would be enough or if there are better projectors around this range. I have a MiBox 3 that I will connect with these projectors so software and performance are not an issue, because I will never use apps on the projector.

I am open to suggestions and flexing the budget too, are there any new launches that I should wait for ?

Hey

I have been using PixPaq Pro, models shared should be similar. I have been using mine occasionally for movies and web series. Works decently for the price.
Learnings
-Regular/Long throw projector need proper centre placement for no colour aberration on corners
-Keystone correction and focus is not wonderful in all models, do check this
-Option for multiple HDMI inputs ( mine has just 1 which is scary to live with)
-Inbuilt speakers are just meh, get a soundbar or something for better audio experience
-You may want to explore ALR screen for better colour contrast (im currently using a white wall, not the best way)
-You may want to get blackout curtains (budget projectors are not bright enough)
-Get the projector installed on a proper wall mount and avoid moving, you'll probably end up wasting a lot of time adjusting and ruining the actual time when you want to watch anything.
-Inbuilt OS is a joke, I'm also using Jio Box

Would request to keep this conversation open so anyone else also seeking can participate and help us improve.
PS. I also own Epson 695Wi with its own pain.

Thanks for adding to the thread. Borosso Ultima Gen 3 solves a lot of issues you mentioned including Short Throw, 2xHDMI. I never wanted to use speakers on these projectors though.

@yothisisyo - What have you finally decided? What did you buy and how is it?

I need a projector for temporary usage (around 6 months) before I revamp my HT. I was looking into the following.
BORSSO Ultima Gen 3 27K
BORSSO BS40 - 20K
Wanbo X5 Pro (Has google TV and Widvine L1 for Netflix) - 30K on Amazon.

Any suggestions?

Hello everyone,
Great to see this thread. I have a room which accumulates dust quite often, is there any reasonably priced projector which can be placed there ? I don't expect to use it during daytime so brightness is not that much of a concern.

So I bought Toptro Q11 and returned it because the item they sent didn't match the pictures in product page. The refund/return process took 15 days, So i used it for those 15 days it was nice. The picture quality great but it was made with very cheap material and was getting very hot. I didn't feel like it would be a good fit for summer in my home.

This lady has very partial reviews.

My experience with Wzatco has been weird. They sent a used projector, dirty. I returned it and they sent another used one. The sealed housing is bullshit. I can see dust inside the lens. As someone above mentioned, these need to be placed bang in the center of where you want to project it. Keystone correction absolutely destroys thee image whenever there are straight lines in the frame. Colour tone cannot be changed. Also the fan is very noisy.

If you keep all this in mind then the image is palatable. It's not winning any awards, nor is it replacing a big tv. I had this "Home Theater" itch, and that has been scratched. This is now used just for football matches.

Wzatco stopped answering calls/messages after saying that dust will go away after using it for a bit.

So buyer beware. It's the luck of the draw.

Thanks! I am torn between going for a 75 inch tv (https://mahajanelectronics.com/prod...e-series-4k-qled-tv-75masterpiece-armani-gold) vs spending equivalent on a projector + screen to project 120 inch. I have a large space in the living room where limited light comes in due to it being in the north. We watch sports or movies in the evening. Our living room TV rarely turns on in the day.

I used 4 projectors till now, starting with Egate 480p ,Egate 720p , Waztco 1080p and my current BenQ TH575.. At budget Egate 720 was a great value at around 11k, Waztco at 20k++ was not much..but my current BenQ at 70k is a huge jump, with huge brightness and color accuracy bump. It also has 3D, I have collected bunch 3D BD movies and Ps3 games and it fun. I have connected with my PC for gaming - its amazing to play in such a huge screen (90 inch in projector painted wall, throw distance around 10 feet)
btw I am selling my BenQ TH575 for 40k ,, its 2 years old, 2400 light hours used. DM me if you are interested.
