Looking for an real upgrade HTC desire HD or iPhone 4

Sold my iPhone 3GS today and planning to get a decent phone :)

So guys please take me through the right path :)
Thanks in advance

I own a HTC Desire and I don't find it crapshoot like the HD2. Having said that, to be honest, I don't think smartphones are really meant to be used as audiophile devices. I'd suggest you buy another source instead. For casual use it's still quite decent. I can't comment on the HD2, but Desire has decent audio capability if you ask me.

Nexus S is the way to go imo used it and a friends Desire HD the nexus s came across as a better phone, engadget review also said its the best android phone out there atm.

The iPhone price is damn high it's about 35k for 16gig , and the desire hd costs about 26k with warranty , now am confused with the high def games like need for Speed hot persut and terminator , do I get the same performance as I was getting in iPhone , what about the other best games .

Yesterday I compared both iPhone 4 screen and hdh screen and I found the htc lacks in clarity and sensitivity . Couldn't compare any of the other features because of some silly reason :(

HTC display lacks in clarity and sensitivity? What were the tasks that you tried to accomplish?

HTC's SLCD screen is superior to iPhone's IPS LCD IMO. I AMOLED screens are nice, make the colours pop out - but are bad in sunlight. In terms of touch sensitivity both are equal. I own a iPhone 3GS and HTC Desire so I can vouch for that fact.

Is Nexus S available in the Indian market?

Since this thread started I have zeroed down 3 phones based on my requirements.

Nexus S

HTC desire Z

Samsung galaxy S

The feature I need the most in these phones are as follows

front / back dual video for 3g video calling

A-GPS if possible with North Heading compass built in

4 inch screen for presentation to the clients

Super Amoled screen so they look good even in bright sunlight

audio video playback

quick time & flash playback in browser since most of my presentation will be in flash.

1Ghz processor

Can anyone tell me a HTC store in Delhi / noida where I can see the HTC desire Z demo?

Desire Z does not have a AMOLED screen AFAIK. And Galaxy S is not in stock with almost all dealers in India. Nexus S is not launched officially. So the only option for you is go via ebay.

HTC Desire Z is my best option but then i will have to see how bad the screen look in daylight or direct sun, if too bad then I have no choice but to wait for Nexus official launch which could be 2-3 months may be more.

Im guessing you mean the Iphone 3GS, the new "Retina" Display is definitely superior to the S-LCD of the new HTC's. Super Amoled is better with regards to sunlight legibility, but only the Samsung Galaxy Line and the old Wave had it

If you know someone with HTC Desire, you can take a dekho in sunlight. Desire Z uses same screen.
The new version of the Desire that is, the Desire up until a few months back came with a Amoled display

I have used a Desire Z under direct sunlight, and it was as good as invisible.
How good is it if you are in daylight but not direct sun as I rarely use mobile i direct sunlight but very often in daylight sun may be behind my back.

^ Not pretty good either ways. I increased the brightness to max to see if that was the issue, but that didn't help. Overall, was not impressed at all with the display quality in the open.

I got the Desire HD + Reliance 3g connection from a friend to use for 4 hrs & here is my observation.

Most apps need 3g connection so I faced the signal problem in my room I had to move to the terrace to get 3g working.

The handset is pretty heavy to hold in 1 hand though its only 170gms, it will soon cause you RSI (Repetitive strain injury) with 2 hands its quite comfortable.

The handset does not come with any cover & its quite easily scratch able from the back.

using your finger leaves finger marks on the screen & then every now & then you will have to wipe the screen.

The glossy screen is not usable in outdoors, it reflects too much of your own image thus not usable for other feature except that you can dial a number for sure.

The image quality of images/video & flash presentation is extremely good but in indoors only,

outdoor the screen looses its worth even though its HD.

The installed apps are feature packed & you can download more for your use.

Web browsing using flash content was quite comfortable without any hangups.

image zoom works well too.

If I ever buy this i surely need some kind of dock station to hold the handset, a screen protection cover & a blue tooth ear plug so I can talk hands free.

In using for 4 hrs i felt i will have to do a lot to adapt to using this smartphone.

Will try a desire Z soon.

^Current series of Desire, Desire Z and mostly all the 3.7" screen models has SLCD and 4.3" screen size models has LCD. As of now only one 4.3" screen model(inspire 4G) which yet to release, having SLCD
