41-50k Looking to buy this laptop, need tips and guidance.

Hey everyone, I have been in the line of PC building for nearly 5 years now, but still a bit scared in getting my first laptop.
Preference is this one from Asus : ASUS TUF Gaming F17 - Gaming Laptop, Intel Core i5-11260H 11th Gen, 17.3-inch (43.94 cm) FHD 144Hz, (8GB/512GB SSD/4GB NVIDIA RTX 2050/Win 11/ RGB Backlit/Black/2.60 kg),FX706HF-HX044WS

Want to stick specifically to Asus for the laptop, as used my friends' ROG G17, and the experience has been great!
Performance, build, quality, comfort, everything is just too good.
Though can't afford a ROG one, hence going with TUF.

A few questions that I have in mind are as follows :
  1. 17inch vs 15inch, which one to go for and why ?
  2. i5-11260H vs i5-11400H, which one and why ? (on sites it says the 11260 is 2% ahead of the 11400)
  3. Any idea about it's battery life ? How long can it last on a single charge ?
I know that it comes with a dedicated GPU, so when not gaming, the RTX will stay off, and the iGPU will work, so it will be power efficient.
So would like an estimate on its battery span on 1. iGPU, and 2. Dedicated GPU

Mainly will be using for college, and media consumption.
Might rarely game (gta VC etc)

So what do you guys suggest ?
Is this laptop a good to go deal ?
Is the price justified ?
And can I get it cheaper elsewhere ??

Bro mainly these days 8gb ram is not enough bro. If u ask me, go with 16gb ram. And also what would u be using the laptop for like for gaming or for daily use....?
 
Don't' take it sarcasms, but don't expect Rs.100,000+ Rog quality with Rs.50,000/- Tuf
Even if you got 50% features of Rog with Tuf think yourself lucky.

PS: I don't have any personal user experience with Rog or Tuf but in general we should not expect top notch quality/experience at 50% lower price.

Bro if u are planning on doing daily commute and if u aren't interested in gaming that much I would say u go with an lightweight laptop with a processor having a good igpu or if u find a dedicated gpu in ur budget go with it

ROG aint quality even at 2L+, specially after considering ASUS's customer service
 
1. 17inch will afford you a bigger screen, but transporting it around can be a PITA, but overall its better than 15.6 inch because more display real estate, bigger chassis which leads to better cooling
2. extremely similar. this shouldnt impact your decision
3. You are not gonna get decent battery life out of a gaming laptop, a lot of folks had gaming laptops in my college days, and we all used to card around chargers for the laptops, these days its kinda easier since GAN chargers are available which are way less bulky and lightweight

Price seems fine-ish to me, but you missed Diwali Sale where you could have scored some incredible deals, I would suggest to wait till Apr-May if you can, most OEMs (Lenovo definitely) have a clearance sale going for their last gen laptops, to empty their inventories, and you can score decent laptops then

why will you buy an old 11th gen at this price. 12th gen will give you two aditional cores with better igpu at same price. even 13 th gen is available at 52k
 
  • 15-inch laptops are generally more portable and convenient, while 17-inch laptops offer a larger screen and more powerful specs. If you don't need the extra screen real estate, a 15-inch laptop might be a better fit.
  • The i5-11260H and i5-11400H are both 11th-gen CPUs, and as I mentioned earlier, it's better to opt for a 12th or 13th-gen CPU for better performance and future-proofing. The 2% difference between the two CPUs might not be significant enough to sway your decision.
  • Battery life can vary greatly depending on usage, but gaming laptops typically don't last as long as non-gaming laptops. With a dedicated GPU, you can expect around 4-6 hours of battery life with the iGPU and 2-4 hours with the dedicated GPU. However, this can vary depending on the specific laptop model, usage, and settings.

Regarding the Acer laptop our friend mentioned, it's great that you found one with a 13th-gen CPU and good specs. 16GB of RAM is a good amount. Link from official Acer India

This one looks really good as per the CPU point of view.
But still I somewhat unsure about proceeding with Acer, as 2 of my acer monitors have gone bad under the warranty period, and their aftersale service isnt having the monitor repaired / replaced.
The service center guy visits my home, checks the screen, says "It is a minor issue, use it as it is. No replacement for you"

other brands also available at this price with 12th gen cpu. may be with 8gb ram or 512 gb ssd,

Acer VG240YS : Bought brand new from Amazon
Nearly 1.5 year after use, the bottom most part of the screen got a black line, which on longer sessions would get to 3 lines. Pixels would get stuck under that region, it randomly would glow too bright. And one day the entire panel got f*ed up by glitch lines, image froze, while other screen was working all good.
This is the one on which they are creating drama on the warranty claim.

Other one : Acer VG240Ym3 : Bought used, 1yr warranty left
Exactly the day warranty ended, the display started going off and on randomly. Happens once in a week, but is too annoying as it knows exactly when I am doing smth important and urgent, and it finds the best time to mess with my brain!!!
