Hello people

My friend is looking to build a low budget gaming PC and following is what I've selected for him

1) mobo --> gigabyte g31-s2l

2) Processor ---> E7300

3) Ram ---> 4 (2x2) gb ddr2 800 Corsair

4) Cabby ---> CM 690

5) SMPS ---> Cooler Master Extreme 500W

6) Graphics Card ---> ATI 4850

7) HD ----> Seagate 500 GB

Max budget is around 35 K . Can somebody give me more suggestions and price update as well. Also E7300 is 266 * 10, right ? How much could I o/c it on that Gigabyte board?

I think 333*10 should be okay

Processor - Intel Core2Quad Q8200 - 10,200

Motherboard - MSI P45 NEO-F - 6000

RAM - Trancend Value(powerchip ones) 800Mhz 4GB (2 x 2GB) - 2000

Graphics Card -Palit HD4850 - 8800

PSU - Corsair VX450 450Watts - 3900

Cabinet - Zebronics Antibiotic(without psu)-2150

Seagate 500GB-2800

Net Total -35.85k approx

the e7200/e7300 should do you good unless you want a quad. (imo pointless.. get a better gfx/powersupply instead)

dump the CM psu. get a corsair cx400 atleast.

stay away from MSI boards.

Mobo - Gigabyte G31-S2L 2.3k

Processor - Intel Q6600 9.6k

RAM - Transcend 2 x 2GB DDR2 800 2k

Cabby - CM Elite 330 1.4k

SMPS - Corsair VX 450W 3.8k or less (TheITWares EBAY)

GPU - HIS HD 4870 512MB 12.5k (KMD)

HDD - Seagate 7200.11 500GB 2.8k

Total - 34.4k + 2 * 120MM High CFM fans

OC Q6600 to 3GHz (333x9) on stock cooler + stock VID prolly.

Keeping low budget in mind

imo, gfx card prowess matters a lot more than CPU on gaming

Go for E7300 and S2L ( if no or little overclocking)

Also a normal cabinet with VX450 with coupon (cost cutting here)

4870 from KMD

All these years, I have used normal Zeb cabinets and never had any issues whatsoever. No need for CM690 or other cab here

Order through kmd,

Processor - Intel Core2Quad Q6600 - 9500

Motherboard - Asus P5N - 2500

PSU - Antec NeoPower 650 Blue (650W) - 4800

RAM - GSkill 4GB(2x2GB) 800Mhz - 2400

HDD - Seagate 7200.11 500GB - 3000

Graphics Card - Asus HD4870 512MB (Limited Stock avail.) - 10800

Cabinet - Antec Three Hundred - 2800

Total - 35,800 [approx]

Sure it is with the 4MB Cache compared to the Q6600's 8MB Cache :P (Sarcasm :/)

Raw Speed - Q6600 > Q8200

Overclocking Ability - Q6600 > Q8200

Less Noise & Marginally less Power consumption - Q8200 > Q6600

Price - Q6600 > Q8200

The only place where the Q8200 beats the Q6600 is in case of power consumption and silence (both marginally).

3-1 to Q6600 ? Need to say more?

Don't be surprised to see the price of Q8200 fall down in the near future.

Refer Tomshardware.com for further information regarding the two.

well i have to disagree the Q8200 has less clock speed yet its faster in pretty much every application.and if u look at the street prices even before the price cuts are yet effect india Q8200 is still cheaper.

True Q8200 is available for a lower price than Q6600
