Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2 - Discussion thread

Completely forgot about this in the DA2 fever :ashamed:

Started just now. You get to play alone in this (No options - You're the man or woman, as the case may be !! :p )

Completed both ME and ME2 with all DLC's except the latest one.

But I have one query - If I play ME2 again will it carry all powers,renegade/paragon points and the mineral reserve? My mineral reserve is 3.5 lacs plus for all minerals except element zero which is 25k. I don't have patience to collect all this again.

In ME1 it won't carryover the renegade/paragon points.

Bioware is now celebrating the success for Dragon Age 2 :p and is giving away Mass Effect 2 for PC. Its only for those who own DA2. Good offer if you dont own ME2 already. Maybe this belongs to DA2 thread. But posting it here anyway.

More details ME2 Offer

That is indeed a very nice gesture from Bioware. :)

As much as I would love to try Dragon Age: Origins and the DLCs, the existing backlogs prevent me from stepping into the RPG genre once again. I shall definitely try Arrival once my PC is setup!

Currently Playing

Hi Guys,

The title is self explanatory, I guess. :)

Currently Playing - Mass Effect ( For the first time )

Impressions - Freakin awesome. I am so happy that I have discovered a new genre of gaming. It started with Fallout 3, which after getting such critical acclaim, I decided to play. Before that I had never played an RPG before, I was always a FPS lover. But Fallout 3 changed that. RPG is THE most addictive genre there is and also a complete value for money if I may add with usually more than 50+ hours of gameplay to offer in every title.

Coming back to Mass Effect, I am half way through the game and I can easily say that this has been the most cinematic experience I have ever had in a game before. And to be honest, I am not even into any of the space travel related stuff. I haven't even seen any of the Star Wars movie :ashamed:, so you can imagine, if I am saying that I love this game than the fans of the genre owe it to themselves to try this if they haven't so far.

Can't wait to finish this and start Mass Effect 2, which I hear is even better than the original. :eek:hyeah:

Re: Currently Playing

Just curious , wont this fall under the gaming backlog / progress report thread ?

Re: Currently Playing

^I thought so too, but when I decided to post there, it didn't seem appropriate to me so I made a thread instead. That thread is about your gaming backlog. You know, the games that you have downloaded :p but which are yet to be played. Whereas here, we post only the game we are currently playing. Lets hear from members if they want this to be merged with the other thread. In anycase, I do not have a problem. :)

Skimmed through complete 13 pages...

Just gonna start with mass effect 1 and 2...

Should i complete the DLC of me1 before playing me2...
i know its(2 DLC) not related to the main storyline...
but is it worth playing...

most of the reviews say both are not worth playing and can be skipped
did u guys play it?
ur views

^^ you mean bring down the sky? I played it, you can skip it if you are concerned about main plot. on the other hand, there is too much time in ME3, so why not try it.

yeah bring down the sky...it got some good reviews
pinnacle station is just small arena ...so skipping it

the problem is i have got a huge huge backlog..
yet to play 2007 games like crysis bioshock..dead space etc etc....which has been lying in my hdd

^the DLC will take 1 hour MAX. So, if you have downloaded it, just play it. Else just ignore it.

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

BTW, would you kindly play Bioshock soon? That is well worth your time.

The moment you start with Mass Effect 2, you are going to forget all about Mass Effect 1. Don't get me wrong, you must play Mass Effect 1 to truly enjoy Mass Effect 2 but the second game is overall a great improvement over the original which in itself was a great game. In my case, I played both the games back to back, because I was so excited to play Mass Effect 2, I skipped through ME 1 DLC. Another reason for skipping was that it does not let you continue your game after the completion of the main storyline (This is not the case in ME2 ).

It took me around 20 hours to complete Mass Effect 1 without playing any of the DLC and it took my around 46 hours to complete Mass Effect 2 with all the DLC's.

Damn exams....

just three days to go...i cant concentrate man!!!

---

so skipping dlc's of me1 ...will decide about me2's dlc after completing the main game

^ME2 DLC's are a must play since they continue the story after ME 2. Liar of the Shadow broker DLC for instance is better than most of the story missions in ME2.
