Playing it on pc. Very impressed with the graphics and performance in dx11. 7 chapters done. Should complete it soon.

I have not played Max payne 1 or 2?

So can I directly play Max Payne 3 without playing 1 and 2 ? Is there any connection between them ?

Story wise there's no connection as such but I'd advise to at least read the story lines of the previous two games since otherwise you'll not know about the character's past.
Not that it matters much but knowing his past lets you enjoy the game more.

Both should take less than 10 hours each depending on the difficulty setting.
You can do a speedrun on lowest setting.

Well, I clocked about 14-15 hrs for the campaign on Normal difficulty.

I completed the campaign on normal within 8 hours (as per steam). Finished it in a weekend.

I mean game wise you wouldn't have that connection.
But character wise u seem to build a connection after playing MP1 and MP2.

You can play MP1 and MP2 with easy setting. I took around 2 days for each. It is fun
