Meta being the abominable company that it is, first they illegally obtained the books through torrent then they didn’t even seed them. Inaction against Meta by the state shows how the laws exist only for the non-wealthy. All hail corporatocracy.

Except for the not seeding part, I don't see anything wrong. And they are not the only one who have done something similar.

Meta had the resources to train these models and released them. Open source community has greatly benefited from llama.
