hey friends i was thinking of buying a mobile through a friend in delhi and i though the maximum courier charges would have been around 450

now i called up Bluedart and he told that u will be charges FREIGHT - 1972rs + Octroi charges whatever it may be + 450 rs courier charges paid by the seller

is this true

please anyone reply on this

need urgent help from you guyz

^ that may be possible as i haven't used BlueDart till date as they are expensive but on the other hand they provide fast delivery as well.

if your mobile phone is cheaper one then you can ask your friend to do bullet proof packing of the cellphone & then ask him to ship through DTDC,that way you'll only end up paying around 100 bucks.

bro the mobile phone is worth 29k and it is not at all cheap and i have never heard such kind of things

this is insane man

2400 for shipping :(

i have heard that mumbai is an octroi, is it true ?

so if i buy anything through any other place i will be charged octroi

i was charged 600 rs octroi a few months ago when i bought a 2nd hand ati 5770 from hybd

that guy clearly told me that it was freight charges so it cant be insurance charges

can i do this - ask the seller to ship the phone and if he asks to pay around 2000 i can send the courier back, what say ?

Mention amount to be around Rs.5000 and you are good to go with Rs.250. Else yes, it's THAT costly! (Of course if anything happens to your phone, you will be insured just Rs.5000 in that case)

hmm bluedart only give good rates to corporates .

So this charges are normal

i remember when i sold ASUS PDA at TE for around 8-10k :P was wonderful deal to all but only problem was the shipping rates quoted to me from bluedart

normal document bluedart charges : 250 bucks

if any small product they will charges you Volumetric even for small item +1% insurance + fuel surcharges + service charges

so forget about bluedart to ship at lower price but you wont regret to accept there service

small trick which u can try : Mention the product value say around 500 bucks .after that i think since item value is less they might send the product for around 750 bucks .Trust my word it will reach safely as its BLUEDART

i can do it now because i got 4 companies and we are giving current business of around 80k to bluedart PM .

most courier companies don't allow shipping mobiles, u have to lie ;). Yes, Bluedart charges so much for mobile phones, however the charges for different for different products.

dint get this sentence

if the product is worth 500 then why would they charge 750 bucks for shipping ?

lol... the product is not worth Rs.500 it's just that you are claiming it is. Besides, why would they care how much the product worth is. It could be Rs.5 or Rs.50k. It doesn't matter to them. What matters is the insurance charges which depends on the product value apart from the shipping costs. Hence you are being quoted hell lot of money for shipping.

Again, just quote your phone's value less - pay less for insurance - ship at cheaper price. Hope that helps :)

or you can try some other reliable courier like Gati or Aramex . IMO Aramex has reasonable charges
i guess only bluedart accepts mobile phones and the names you have mentioned - i have heard them for the first time

I have bought phones from eBay and it was usually shipped by Bluedart, some sellers use Aramex too. So check Aramex too. :P

what was the cost of the phones that you bought ?

were you charges octroi or freight or any other amount ?

Use TNT and don't tell them it's a mobile. Also declare the value to be within 1K. Give a written undertaking to the courier that the the package contains a toy / a showpiece (non-fragile) etc. They will charge you within 150 bucks. I've sent mobiles using this way many times.

Come on bro....

Ask ur friends to pack the phone very well. Tell the courier guys that it is a toy & that since it is a gift, there is no value.

Now, the phone will be shipped & though u won't get any insurance cover, I think the charges would be too tiny to feel a pinch.

I have done this with DTDC for an ipod touch. U just run a small risk but these days, courier companies are too professional to mess with ur goods.

But if u have an History of being Unlucky, please do not try this!!! Lol :D

If you actually want to officially declare the complete value of phone ie. 20k+ amount , then yes BlueDart will quote you 2k+ for shipping otherwise you can easily do it for 400-500 bucks. In last 1 month itself I shipped 3 different mobile phones to Gujrat ,Delhi and Pune all for 400 bucks each using Blue Dart. The guy said there are almost negligible chances of a package getting misplaced etc with Blue Dart so he valued the phone at 5k and took my signature on all the taping(seal) on the packaging so that no one will even try to open it ;). All parcels were delivered next day itself . :D
