Shouldnt this be posted (if not already) in the gaming section?

edit: Crytek press release: http://www.crytek.com/news/news/?tx_ttnews[tt_news]=143

I hope they release more technical details soon... here they just mention "it's scalable" so I hope we finally have game engines optimised for multicore (quads) and multi-GPU (ATI X2 type) cards... :)

i'll hand over this group of bank robbers to police, after robbery and earn reward!!! :) but becoz of the new engine we may get to see some awesome games!!!

OI!!!!!!!! isnt cryengine3 a heavily modiefied version of cryengine 2 opetimised for the consoles i dont c why you guys are getting your knickers in a twist over this ;)

I guess the PC engine will be similar..
The video shows better lighting effects than the present one..
dunno if it will still scale nicely..
i'm praying for it...
its forcin me to save up heavily for an upgrade!!!

Is it just me or does it look a bit like the UE3 engine? :S

IMHO, visually speaking, it's neither a step up nor a notch down from the original cryengine 2. Let's hope that Crytek does not do another Dunia

Has everyone gone blind? How does this look better than CE2?
This is just a version of CE2 which was optimized for consoles. I wonder why they decided to call it CE3.

The gaming company has nice ties with the Card companies. They are far ahead then we can imagine but they release stuff and for us its like WOW but its old technology for them :P

Gaming industry is a big buisness to rip off PPL :)

agreed...Its a console engine..probably will s0ck donkeys ba11s
nothing to droll about
Its a downgraded engine to be played on old generation consoles with 256MB RAMs :bleh:

guys this is what i think..... after crysis and crysis warhead i dont think crytek made the amount of cash it thought it would. so now it's saying is good-bye to pc exclusives and simply taking a step into the console market which seems to be commercially more viable and less rampant of piracy....thus it introduced cryengine 3 which is easier for console developers to work on.

its quite simple- cryengine 3 = a multi platform cryengine 2

Looks like console version of crysis :P, if to be released !

The draw distance is increased which is unneeded.
