my observation of samsung @ 18x on verb was HORRIBLE . bad scans and this is was for a MIS DVD+R 16X cake box tat my frend got for me from singapore. i did not even try testing the MII ones on these. and even the TY dont burn that gr8. the PIE just reach 2x 3x the amount simply not worth .

MIT,not MIS. No 16X SL media from Singapore.

must be the MIT then , he picked it from sg from me , along with some dual layers that time so i must have mis read some things. the silve top 50 spindle. of the record i find MII more compatible to some players than the MIT, though the MIT have given me very good scans. at times better than my TY.

Yes we do. Tray prob IMO can be repaired locally (if you are out of warranty that is).
Looks like we have a Samsung fan boi here

You would still advice people to buy a Samsung drive knowing fully well that they may have possible tray problem just because they are less noisy ?

Nope am not a Samsung Fanboy! This is my first Samsung drive. I'm loyal to NO brands. Whatever is best is mine! ;)

It is said that the newer Sammies don't have the famous tray problem.

BTW, I didn't recommend it for being less noisy. I recommended it for having the best possible Burning Quality over the LiteOns.

^^ well my first cd-rom drive was samsung (way back in 2000) and then my first cd-writer was samsung again. both of them me gave me enough trouble. so i decided to go with moser baer this time. lets c :D

LiteONs also have them but very very minor. My Litey which just died was having a little prob.

You had to press the eject with a bit of force that too twice to eject the tray.
