In an attempt to triggering another price war in 3G Mobile Broadband segment in Mumbai telecom circle, India’s first 3G Mobile service operator Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL), today announced the launch of 2 new Unlimited 3G Data Plans and revised exiting Limited Plan-2500 for its subscribers in Mumbai circle.

MTNL slashes the 3G Unlimited Data Plan cost up to 58% and introduced bucket of new 3G offers including Unlimited Prepaid/Postpaid Advance Rental/Payment Plans.With the launch of new 3G recharges/plan now the Unlimited 3G Data Plan will effectively cost at just Rs. 750 per month with advance rental plan for Home and Roam usage.

MTNL Mumbai introduces new “Advance Rental Data Card Unlimited Plan†and with the Plan-4500, the effective cost of Unlimited 3G Data Downloads will be as low as Rs. 750/month. The new new 3G Data plan for Rs. 4500 comes with the validity of 180 days and provide Unlimited Free High Speed wireless Broadband 24×7 anywhere in India (Home and Roam).

MTNL Mumbai also introduces one New Monthly Unlimited 3G Data Plan 1650 offers Unlimited 3G Data usage for 30 Days.

Apart from above tariff plan MTNL Mumbai also rationalized its Existing 3G Data Plan-2500, Now it comes with Unlimited Downloads/Uploads and Valid for 60 Days (Earlier the it was offering 25 GB for 30 Days).

However Initially a data cap of 200 GB per month shall be placed in Unlimited Plans, But if any customer exceeds the usage, the excess charges will be waived off so over all its “True Unlimited 3Gâ€. MTNL 3G subscriber can enjoy Free data Roaming in more than 850 cities across India with BSNL 3G network.

888Plan would be good if you want a stable internet connection... the speed that you would get from a 3G connection would be good but would vary a lot...
 
AFAIK it isn't 200GB/month. It is 200GB for the entire plan. So if you take one month @ 1650 then you get 200GB/month. If you take 6 months @ 4500 total OR 750 pm then you get 200GB/6 months, or a total of 200 GB even then.

So it is best to take 1650 and 200GB per month.

AFAIK, its 200gb/month as it was the same plan in delhi

it was confirmed by the delhi CC

i cant get through to them in mumbai

maybe ill try again tomorrow
 
Even in Delhi, it was 200GB total. It is clearly mentioned on their website. People have ended up mis-understanding MTNL's website :)

it is clearly mentioned above that it is 200gb/month and if exceeded, the charges will be waived off
 
Data cap 200gb/month is mentioned in telecomtalk website, which is most of the time true. But the plans mentioned in MTNL mumbai website just says Freedata allowance is 200gb. So it's a kind of confusing.

There is an * infront of unlimited.

And that astrix points to a total 200 GB, not monthly.

And even if that wasn't, things which sound too good to be true usually are. When they give 200GB for 1650 they would probably come down to 1200-1300 pm for a 6 months advance but not less than half the price, more like 35% or so of the tariff. Companies don't do that.

Also, good luck getting 200GB waived off, you need to write an official letter for that. In a company like Airtel, I wouldn't worry. But with MTNL unless you know the top boss and/or are willing to wait a few months and waste some 20-30 hours on this, it will be difficult to get your point across.

That IMO is the best news. :)

I hope that clears the air for both Mumbai AND Delhi users, that this plan does truly offer unlimited data usage.

I have always maintained - MTNL FTW!

^you ve got a strong unwarranted bias for airtel. So your opinion does not count. :p.
On a side note 3g speeds in mumbai will now go down even further. :(
 
This is indeed good, if they could have given 3-4 mbps at Rs 750 with a 200 GB cap for triband, how nice it would have been. Now many will rush to get a 3G modem and use this as a broadband replacement. :p
 
Speeds have been on the slower side from the past week. By april used to get 3mbps at all times. Nowadays it reaches 2 mbps rarely.
Do not know the current speeds i am out of mumbai and using reliance.
Here in sindhudurg even edge speeds are awesome. No delay whatsoever. Guess nobody uses reliance here. :eek:hyeah:
 
This is excellent news. Best part is roaming is free so we can use the cards on BSNL Network.

Fook Failtel, Fook Docomo, Fook Aircel, Fook Vodafone, Fook everyone...especially Airtel.

Anybody who knows how to interpret can make out that MTNL points to a total of 200GB whether by mistake or on purpose, that is the logical point of their website.

And btw, I have already bought the 4500 rs 6 months plan in Delhi.
 
mtnl offer are far 100 times better than airtel. airtel just sucking money and giving nothing so its better not to discuss about failtel
 
I am buying one.. waiting for it for a very long time... Any suggestion for 3G datacard ? Also can anyone tell the procedure to obtain and activate the MTNL sim ?
