MTNL Triband : first impressions.

When MTNL launch the 1gb + Night Free they said that this Plan is for limited time. I think the time is over with March End. Don't get Bold if MTNL change this plan and stop offering Night Free to all cutomers.
 
nah the night plan is still on ...

and users who have this plan already wil not lose it.. but new customers might not be able to avail this plan :)

(some senior head at the prabhadevi office had said this to my dad a few days ago)

Just today I book New connection and officer advise me to apply for Broadband when line will intall at my place:@
 
Yup, my friend had 4 parallel lines and didn't listen to me!!:tongue:
Result frequent disconns while answering phone and low dwnld speeds!!:rofl:

Now has connected main line to splitter for the modem and then routed the phone out to a wall socket!!
So he gets 3 parallel connections and no Triband problems!!:clap:

Sometimes it helps to listen to a noob too!!:P

Submit Triband application immediately if u want that NU plan and if its still available!!
Just mention NTC= New connection in triband appli form and your CA No. as mentioned in receipt!!
Also if you buy own modem and show it to them at the exchange, triband connection in one day in some areas- else 3-4 days!!:)

also sometimes the staff take their own sweet time to create your triband account!!
So i feel its better you submit your triband appli asap so that your account is ready by the time u get connection!!

I was lucky to not only get my new no at the time of application but to get the same no. after connection too!!:P
Since its not necessary to get same no. as mentioned at the time of registration, it doesn/t matter!!:P
CA no. doesn't change as is most important for any additional services reqd!!

It actually takes hardly 30 mins to 1 hr, that too at their own sweet pace- to create an account, do the relevant jumpering at the exchange and get confirmation/activation from main server!!:)

I was promised connection in a day!!:D

But when it didn't happen even after 4 days:@ - due to one public holiday and a sunday- i had to call my uncle whom i didn't want to bother initially with such silly task:P !!

He sent a man from his Dept to do the jumpering, called and got the account created!!:hap2:
In 10 mins my ADSL line was up- just like he had promised when i first spoke to him on the issue!!:ohyeah:
 
^^He had 4 parallel connections and it even worked? :S When i had BSNL installed, i had one parallel connnection and forget even gettin low speeds, it didnt even work. They didnt even check and i didnt know that u couldnt use a parallel connection. For one whole week these guys kept coming almost everyday, they changed the modem, lan cable, phone cable and god knows what else they tried. Finally i was reading the manual which they give to their engineers and its written no parallel connections :@ I was like wtf and was so pissed. I got my connection working finally 6 weeks after applying :@

One Mtnl instrument for powerfailure and rest powered cordless phones in parallel!!

Also he uses any one phone at any given time, obviously:P , depending on which room he is in!!

So touchwood, no prob till now!!

Will check with him and report download speed he gets!!:cool2:

Are yaar,

The Officer himself not ready to accept Triband form:@ , in this condition no other way left than I submit Online Application Form for TriBand.

Meanwhile which model of Router do you get the Old one by DLINK:hap2: or New One:(

Btw me located in Mumbai/Pune

And i'm very satisfied with the MTNL (Night Unlimited Plan) triband service though they don't have a unlimited plan yet while Pune - VSNL-TataIndicom does have a 128 Kbps(not broadband though) unlimited for 900/Month but thier customer service sux :no:

BSNL is good but no unlimited plan again and night unlimited is sux 0200-0800 ! :S

But me really don't care since we have a VSNL leased line in our company and me being the Super User ! :D
 
^^ in delhi they introduced the 256kbps unlimited for 1400 bucks!!! the offer is till 30/04/06.. hmm.. kinda expensive though

i rather have a 1 mbps night plan .. then have a 24*7 256kbps connection. dont wana waste electricty you know.. lol

cause on night plan with all the faults from mtnl included you can easily do more then 30gb !! :) .. easily!!

but ya you gotta be able to find the flaw ;) .. lol

me only in mumbai on weekends so really no isues with the current MTNL plan :P
I'm becoming download addict sucking MTNL & VSNL bandwidth hard :hap5: running out of disk space of 80+80+80+60 GB :(

MTNL is only providing UTstar routers with their rental scheme!!

If you buy your own router, get the DLink 'DSL 502-T'!!
Should cost 2K +/- 100!!

A friend got it for 2K recently!! Decent price IMHO!!:)

Might be cheaper if you got the skill to bargain or contacts!!:P
Used to be 2.2k-2.4k a few months back(due to greedy dealers:@ )!!
 
ya getting the dsl 502T router can be advantageous as ppl have used it.. found would be better of troubleshooting it too incase something goes wrong..

plus port forwarding/putting in bridged mode etc etc.. using it for LAN can also be possible.. with help from others who have used the modem.. :)
 
But MTNL no more provide Dlink 502T,

We have no option but to accept what they will Provided.

In 2-3 months all of we used to MANAGE with this Model too (hopefuly)

and if you buy your own modem they would come in 2-3 days and set up the whole thing :)
 
Does the same Modem will required by any other service provider if after 6 month I switch to other Service provider or at that time I again have to buy another.

Reply me ASAP.

As if possible I will Apply Online for MTNL Broadband service today on 04-04-2006.

nah.. its an adsl router .. so can only be used with an adsl connection.. only airtel and mtnl provide adsl connection.. so well you wont be able to use your router if you shift to another isp from mtnl.

Is this Recent News or before March 15th, related to Mumbai MTNL :S
