Wouldn't recommend the new Digsby Alpha build by the way, it's crashed on me a lot and there's hardly any lowered memory or resource usage.

I also tried my hand at it but I messed up the GUI once and since then no Miranda for me.

I used to use Digsby for quite some time. Then my Aspire1 started hanging and then I left it out totally. Should give pidgin a shot once now.
 
Use G-talk, Pidgin doesnt have clean look and feel of Gtalk, besides most of IM chats are on google hence...

And yeah Pidgin never connects to MSN for me...
