Will be posting all the updates and new releases from the MWC i.e. from 3-6 March here.

Current expectations:

• Xiaomi is expected to showcase the 15 Ultra which could surpass the Vivo X100 ultra as the best android mobile for photos and videos.
• Samsung is expected to maybe announce or tease it's S25 edge. It is also expected to announce the A56, A36 and the A26, all featuring Galaxy AI.
• Tecno is expected to showcase it's Camon 40 and also showcase the thinnest smartphone at 5.75mm, the Tecno Spark Slim with 5200 mAh battery which is significantly more than Samsung S25 Edge's rumoured battery life. They are also expected to showcase their AI glasses.
• Infinix is expected to showcase it's mini tri-fold phone.
• Nothing is expected to showcase it's 3A series.
• HMD is expected to announce new smartphones.
• Honor is expected to announce "a new vision for the company".
• Qualcomm is expected to announce new advancements in 6G.
• AI advancements by different companies will be a major focus.

Xiaomi has unveiled it's Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Xiaomi 15. Prices for the Indian market will be announced on 11th March, but they are suspected to be around the same price as the last gen 14 series.

HMD has announced 3 new feature phones:

• 2660 Flip
• 150 Music
• 130 Music

The only interesting thing out of all of them is the Fusion X1 which had already been released but is now available with Xplora, according to HDM it is a phone targeted at teens and comes with in-built Xplora parental control.

Xplora is a paid, subscription-based service that runs on the teen's phone and can send out alerts for different events, offer location tracking and history, controlled contacts, app approvals and remote screen time management. It's still unclear how long of a subscription you'll be getting for free.

It seems like a good idea but the hardware provided in the phone is pretty weak.

It also has smart pins on the back which all attaching different accessories like a battery pack.

The 150 music and the 130 music are both feature phones which come with a 2W speaker at the back. The 2660 Flip is also a feature phone.

The attachable camera concept phone they showed is also pretty interesting. It can really scale well. Saw a few videos about it.

1. Honor had not announced a new smartphone but has announced a $10 billion investment in a range of AI products and devices. Its first project will be the development of an intelligent phone that will "revolutionize human-to-device interaction" in collaboration with Google and chipmaker Qualcomm.

Honor has also debuted it's Watch 5 Ultra and globally launched the Pad V9 and Earbuds Open. The Earbuds open come with live AI translation.

The Pad V9 comes with many eye-protection features including one that uses AI to defocus parts of the screen that you're not staring at to reduce eye strain similar to the Apple Vision Pro.

2. Samsung has announced 3 new device the A56, A36 and A26. Here are the specs:

The A56 is going to come with 6 years of software updates. All three come with an IP67 rating but only the A56 will be getting UFS 3.1 storage.

3. Itel has launched the Power 70 which comes with a built on 6000mAh battery and a 4000mAh charging case which the company is throwing in as a launch gift, taking the battery capacity to a whopping 10000mAh.

4. Micron has announced it's new UFS 3.1 and 4.1 storage chips based on it's latest G9 architecture which brings efficiently and performance improvements. They will be available in devices from early 2026.

5. Tecno has debuted a slew of new products. These include the Camon 40 Pro and Camon 40 premier, Megabook S14, Megabook K15S, and Megabook T14 Air laptops, Watch GT1 and the True 2 TWS earbuds.

Tecno also introduced new concepts and technologies. UltraLink is a wireless communication accessory that provides long-range point-to-point voice messages over distances up to 10 km in unobstructed environments. There is a photochromic technology that changes the smartphone's surface hue under sunlight.

Tecno have also announced their new AI Glasses and AI Glasses Pro with the ability to take voice commands with a touch on the temple, view flash notes, memos, and schedules. Both Glasses offer object recognition, information summarization, tourist information and even recommendations, with the Pro also coming with AR-enhanced apps and real-time navigation.

Tecno has also introduced a 2MP spectral vision camera lens which it claims can tremendously improve colour accuracy.

6. Xiaomi has also announced it's Hyper AI suite to rival Samsung's GalaxyAI and they have partnered with Google for AI integration.

They also showcased the Xiaomi 15 Custom concept with a custom camera lens which attaches to the back of the phone with 2 pins with something Xiaomi calls "Laserlink" which allows for a low latency connection directly to the phone's camera app.

They also said that the Xiaomi SU7 EV might be coming to the global market in the next few years.

7. Anker has showcased a solar powered wearable sci-fi looking clock called the Solix which can keep you warm, protect you from rain and also charge your phone.

8. HMD showcased their Amped Earbuds which come with a 16000mAh charging case that can reverser wirelessly charge your phone, including iPhones.

9. TLC has extended it's line of NxtPaper display devices which mimics the displays of e-readers and is easy on the eyes and doesn't show reflections and can also turn off the display's colours to extend battery life.

10. Lenovo introduced a few new laptops and showcased a proof of concent laptop with a solar panel lid.

The Lenovo Yoga Solar PC is a proof of concept with a solar panel lid. The conversion rate of the solar panel is 24% and it is described to have been achieved by leveraging ‘Back Contact Cell’ technology, which moves mounting brackets and gridlines to the back of the solar cells, maximizing the active absorption.

According to Lenovo this innovation allows the solar panel to absorb and convert enough direct sunlight in 20 minutes to power up to one hour of video playback on the PC. The Lenovo Yoga Solar PC is 15mm thick and weighs 1.22kg.

The other two laptops introduced are the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition (16”, 10 GEN) and the Lenovo Yoga Pro 7i Aura Edition (14”, 10 GEN).

Lenovo also showcased their foldable OLED laptop concept called the ThinkBook Flip AI PC, that offers a 18.1-inch 2000x2664 foldable display. This design enables five different modes, ranging from a tablet mode (12.9-inch) through a clamshell mode (13.1-inch) through an open full-screen vertical mode (18.1-inch).

11. Samsung has also achieved a major breakthrough in it's bezel-less OLEDs to demonstrate which it showcased two 31.5" panels tiled together and two 6.8" amoled display tiled together.

They also showcased their polarizer-less OLED panels which can reach a maximum of 5000 nits of peak brightness.

They also displayed their Project Moohan XR Headset which looks similar to the Apple Vision Pro. It is an Android XR headset, a collaboration with Google that's been under development for some time, is expected to reach the market in the next year.

You'll be able to navigate via Google Maps, enjoy extended-view sports events, or access Gemini to help plan travel.

Samsung says that by "integrating multimodal AI with advanced XR capabilities," this "ground-breaking device marks a significant step toward more context-aware and personalized experiences that enhance everyday life in incredibly immersive ways."

Samsung also showcased a foldable OLED concept for a gaming handheld that looked suspiciously close to a Switch. This is particularly interesting as even though the gaming handhelds have gotten considerably smaller since the launch of the Steam Deck they still aren't particularly pocketable irrespective of what Linus might want you to believe but this will certainly help them achieve that. However the control stick, D-pad and face buttons situation will have to be handled more intuitively as what they did is just a disaster waiting to happen.

They also showcased a flexible OLED but it is in a briefcase with a handle. It is called the Flexible Briefcase and it's an 18.1" flexible OLED with a QHD+ resolution i.e. 184 PPI and a laptop in disguise.

Next Xiaomi releases should see a decline in sales as current users are very unhappy with Hyper OS 2.x
Not even good aesthetic features from 1.x to 2.x and AI seems just app addon.
Morever, they have locked the bootloader terribly, making mass majority of rom testers/developers very unhappy.

Yeah really sad to see the bootloader thing. Now the only options remaining are Nothing and Google.

The only one I am looking forward to. The e-ink world is long overdue a shakeup.

A vapor chamber around the display inside the bezzels could help mitigate that, but then again it is a proof of concept and not a production model so issues like that will probably be taken care of when it actually goes into mass production. Also I don't really see this taking off on something like a thin and light laptop, instead it would work much better on rugged business laptops which are used by architects or archeologists working in environments which are naturally more sunny.

I didn't quite think of it.

Yeah, then it could be made more strong and help working in such tough environments.

Android XR headset

I think a Android XR headset will me much better than the Vision Pro was since it is much more integrable and is used across various devices and VR has been around in the Android space much before Apple got their hands on it.

1. Samsung displayed their S25 Edge, no specs were provided but from pictures it doesn't seem to be anywhere close to the how thin the Tecno Spark Slim is.

They also showcased some other display concepts one of which is a stretchable OLED display which can stretch from the middle to create a 3D effect with any glasses.

Samsung also showcased it's Light Field Display technology which it uses for it's concept 3D monitors which offers glasses-free 3D viewing.

They also showcased their concept foldable smartphones, the latest one is called the Asymmetric Flip which is similar to the Galaxy Flip in design but folds at two places instead of one. Another one called the Flex G which is a tri-fold concept which will lost probably compete with the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate and another called the Flex S which is also a tri-fold but with one hinge folding outwards and the other hinge folding inwards.

They also showcased their range of pantone certified displays which according to them would help achieve better colour accuracy across various devices.

2. Realme announce their 3 year strategy to expand into the mid to high end market with it's GT line of smartphones and by integrating it's Next AI into it's upcoming models.

They also showcased a concept of Interchangeable Lens for mobile photography. Their prototype featured a custom Sony 1-inch sensor with DSLR lens compatibility using a Leica M mount.

3. Lenovo also showcased a proof of concept glass-less 3D laptop which comes with a 3.2K 3D display which an also be switched to 2D it also comes with an AI ring that lets the user interact with the 3D objects displayed and navigate the laptop without the need for a trackpad or mouse.

They also showcased some other accessories for it's laptops from their Magic Bay lineup which connect with pogo pins and magnets. These include a dual 13-inch display setup in which displays go at both sides of the laptop's main display, a 10.1-inch external display which sits atop the laptop's display. These are the one's which can help boost productivity.

They also showcased their Tiko and Tiko Pro Magic Bay accessories which are AI powered notification and real time update hubs.

4. There were also many new products launched by the likes of Doogee, Oukitel, Ulefone, Meizu, Nubia and ZTE which will most probably not be sold in India. But some of the interesting ones included:

• The Oukitel WP100 Titan, a rugged phone which come with a 6.8" 120Hz display, a 1200 lumen torch, a 100 lumen projector and a 33,000mAh battery which can provide a claimed 289 hours of talktime.
• The Nubia Neo 3 and 3 GT are budget gaming smartphones which come with touch sensitive shoulder triggers. The Nubia Focus 2 Ultra comes with a rotating bezel around the camera bump which can make the camera zoom in and out.
• The Doogee M60 is a 9.5mm thick phone with a 78 lumen projector with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.

Xiaomi also launched the Buds 5 Pro, which are particularly interesting as they are the first earbuds which come with Qualcomm's S7 Pro chip which makes them the only earbuds which can do Wi-Fi streaming allowing for a bandwidth of 4.2Mbps and audio quality of upto 96kHz/24-bit without any increase in battery consumption. They come with Qualcomm’s XPAN (Expanded Personal Area Network) technology which allows them to switch between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. But sadly these also most probably won't be coming to India.

6. Qualcomm introduced it's Dragonwing Platform, X85 Modem-RF and a combination of the two in it's Dragonwing Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Gen 4 Elite Platform.

7. Jio Platforms Limited (JPL), along with AMD, Cisco, and Nokia, plans to build an Open Telecom AI Platform. The planned platform is a solutions-oriented, multi-domain intelligence framework aimed at enhancing network security and efficiency, reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).

So basically from what I am getting is that they will try and leverage AI to take security measure for the network in advance by collecting data and looking for what could be improved in order to save costs instead of trying to fix something after it something goes wrong.

9. Google’s Gemini now lets you ask questions using videos and what’s on your screen by screensharing and as for video, you can ask questions from Gemini while filming a video. Also soon the company is going to announce Conversational Gemini.

10. Oppo has also announced it's AI strategy. It has partnered with Google and will be embedding Google's AI experience across it's lineup of devices. They will also be integrating Gemini in it's native apps. Oppo is also implementing Private Computing Cloud (PCC) built on Google Cloud’s Confidential Computing to protect user privacy while leveraging powerful AI functionalities.
