I am doomed.. I bought it for the high price since I dint have the patience to wait.... Now I will not have the mobile for this whole month if it is going that way...:(

Hope that they will get me the new/repaired one soon...(Now they are saying 5 days)

its better to bring ur phone to ur nearest local service center..where u stay..
they use professional flashing dongle like universal box, jaf, ufs-hwk (plz dont ask wat is this) they will harge u 1-1.5k ..flash ur phone with in 30-45min
or
give bribe to nokia care guy ask him to swap ur phone:clap: 30days

I had used the mobile at office pc also :ohyeah:. It was showing the same weird USB activity there too..(intermittent connection and open explorer window closing). The weird part is that once I drag something to the phone folder, it will continue transfering even after the window I opened on the phone got closed by itself. I thought the same as you(PC trouble) until I stumbled on this firmware update trouble.
Which phone will nokia care give as standby? Same model or old one.. Dont call me stupid for asking this question.:bleh:
Were you using the original nokia cable (usb - micro usb) while upgrading via NSU?
how do you xfer files to the phone from the pc ? were you using the nokia pc suite in pc suite mode ?

i once killed my dads phone similar to the way u did. honestly i thought i was screwed, but then i googled around for 30 mins and i found the fix on nokias site itself. it is damn easy to bring it back to life. i dunno about the 5800 but i did the whole thing in one hour. i was so releived. in my case while updating i by mistake removed the USB connector. it went black and white and then dead. dont worry. nokia might not entertain u but i guess u can fix it at home itself. just google a lot, there has to be a fix. hope this helps and makes u feel better.

To add salt to the wound... now I see that we can get the 5800 for 16.5k ... I paid 19k to those damn ppl just 4 days ago and now I have no mobile. My bad :(

dude its nowhr 16.5k dont worry... it still sells for 18-19k :hap2:

nokia is an idiot to have released a phone w/o properly testing, researching it....my earpiece has gone bust for the third time and the only cosolation i get from the nokia care people that it has happened to a lot of nokia 5800's!! we should file a class suit against nokia!

I did use the original cable. But I transferred some files using "mass storage" mode.

It seems that you have used the key combi to reset the phone. But the 5800 is not having that enabled except those with v20s...

I agree to that... at least they must have replaced the mobile when they found that it is a h/w trouble.

that sux man....even my k790 i died today while upgrading firmware [not comparing the loss]. It sucks when things die....mine doesn't have warranty as well :(

dude yours safer side its re flash able from home .try snes forum

i flashed my k750i to w800 :ohyeah:

I already gave to Nokia care and it seems it is on its way...

will double check with them and see what the status is..

It seems something went wrong with the flashing because of some h/w trouble in the phone itself. I am not a noob but no expert in the flashing area. I had flashed my w810 when it went dead on me.. Still now it is running fine. This upgrade thingy seems to have gone wrong because of the phone itself. Otherwise how come I alone got this trouble.. :S

Hope you get your phone back :P and please close all the application before flash. To avoid such problems, keep ur phone in offline mode and hope for the best now..

No one is free from 5800 bugss :bleh:

closing all applications will not help as the phone reboots into a special mode wherein it can read and update the firmware which otherwise is not possible

also u cannot flash the phone in offline mode , it will prompt u to move to the "general" mode.

Ok Guys!!!

I am in need of advice. The Nokia Care guys are moving ahead the delivery date of the mobile. Now they are saying that it will come on next Friday only(gave the mobile this monday). Is there any use if I argue with the Nokia care ppl to give a new handset? Are they having the power to issue a new one?.

Just refer the following website. It says "Stay away from Nokia" :S

Dude chillax man... I agree with your condition that you don't have any phone with you... but dont get all worked up man... your costly phone is with the Service Centre guys. Give them their time; but by saying that I dont mean just let them off the hook... keep nagging them only at the time they tell you you will get your phone. You p!$$ em off and they may do something stoopid to your phone. Get a second hand phone or a old phone from any of your friend for now and sit tight till the time you get your phone. I agree Nokia high-end phone suck when it comes to repairs... that's why me on a 3120 Classic now :bleh:

Wanted to know whether suppose the cc guys take 20 days in servicing phone doesnt they have to increase the warranty period say for some extra days since they taking a lot of time and troubling the user

the 5800 camera really disappoints me..

hope they comeup with newer algorithm or is it that the lens is cheap quality?

Really , the camera is crap... Even my 2 MP w810i takes better photos... May be as ppl say, 5800 is better outdoors. But yet to try that...

About 2 yrs back, had my Nokia N70 in service center for around 3 months and in midst it was returned to me thrice w/o repairing. So finally i lodged a complaint at their CC number in Banglore and man, i got a brand new N70, opened before me in Nokia SC within 4-5 days of lodging the complaint. And yes, i didnt had to call them up, they called me up and asked me to collect the replacement ! :ohyeah:

And yeah i also had complained about the rude behaviour of ppl out there and when i went to collect my replacement, not only was i greeted but also asked to sit in a cabin and offered tea while new box of N70 was being brought for me from the store :P
