CAN OLED's Be Trusted!
I want to File a case against LG at CGSI .....
and I don't even know how to go about it:cry:

I & my family are totally shattered and disappointed that our super expensive LG OLED65B7T which we got for 2.6 Lakhs on Dec 09 2017 is declared as DEAD by the LG service technician. This TV is less than 4 years old and used for just 6730 hours and it's DEAD!
Its value as on Dec 9 2017 was $4032 or 3425 Euros.

I registered an online complaint on LG website on Oct 10 2021 and was surprised that it was attended on the same day. Service /Inspection charge of Rs 413 was paid.

Only an external visual check was done by the visiting technician Mr Mahfooz Sheikh and he declared our OLED TV to be dead.

A total mess up was also done by LG (No paper receipt given to me) - a discrepancy in my initial Service Request No CNP20211010896599 and what is quoted on the Job Report 2110100866461. Proofs of the same are submitted to https://www.lg.com/in/support/email-to-ceo-complete

Further as LG OLED reports claim a LIFETIME of 30K to 100K hours ..... my TV conked off in just 6730 hours.
LG also recalled over 60K OLED’s due to overheating problems and my Model was in that List so after much thought and consultation (as I did not want to EVER tamper with the Original Factory assembly … but the recurrent Daily Screen Warnings left me with no choice) I replaced my Power Board on Nov 30 2020!

Kindly check the attached files below.
Note:
Screen shot taken for Hours used:

Dec 09 2017 to Nov 26 2020 = 1083 days – delivery happened on Dec 10th (so subtracted 1 day)
Usage was 4822 hours
Which means 4822/1083 = 4.45 hours per day
EXTENDING this to Oct 09 2021 means 1400 days and which in the lockdown I would add a liberal 6 hours average per day (so from Nov 26 2020 to Oct 09 2021 = 318 days x 6 hrs = 1908 hrs
TOTAL POWER ON TIME OF MY LG OLED65B7T-T = 4822 + 1908 = 6730 Hrs Only!

Looking forward to the best help possible from my alma-mater @TechEnclave

Unfortunately, after warranty is over, we are at the mercy of the manufacturer. Your first effort should be to ask LG to give you a repair estimate and provide a big discount on that repair, like some car manufacturers do. For this you will have to try and get in touch with the local or state service head and try and make him understand that this shouldn't have happened.
If this doesn't happen, then you can take a legal recourse, but legally, you can't do much once the warranty is over unless you can prove that this TV was known to have issues which they didn't rectify during the warranty period.
One of the reasons I don't think about buying such expensive electronics items in India, is due to the low warranty they come with and one has to pay even more to get extended warranty either from the company or a third party.

Umm. It's not making any sense. You said your TV is fried but it looks the display was cracked. These are not the same thing. I don't think screen cracking is covered under warranty. It's unfortunate but yeah when OLED cracks you have to get a new TV as it'll be cheaper than replacing the OLED panel.

It seems like kind of a bullet hole type of physical damage. Not sure the motherboard frying can cause that kind of hole.

Hello @terence_fdes, welcome back

That's a typical LG behaviour, I bought an expensive LG LED way back in 2012 and it conked off after 3 years when the extended warranty just got over. LG reps said we don't have parts of this model anymore. I was like then how come it was available 2 months back. After throwing it away, I decided not to but anything LG ever again and replaced all my TVs with Sony.

Thanks for the support and help (and please continue to do so)

This issue of the *suddenly Fried up* scenario happenned on Oct 9th as we were watching a TB Series on @PrimeVideo and the screen just went BLACK.

The spot of 'burnout' on right bottom of screen never existed. It is so tiny that it's unnoticeable too. The pics I posted are 'super zoomed' images

I want to build up my case to sue LG TV india for compensation or replacement in the Consumer Guidance Courts.

I know this is a long drawn battle. But I need your help and support @TechEnclave folks.

I frankly do not have the money today to even buy a 55" china TV from Amazon (due to #Covid19 job scenario) and our 65" LG was our ONLY source of entertainment at home.

UPDATE

Let me sincerely thank @logistopath @pratikb @rdst_1 @raksrules @Nalin and give u all a warm HUG .... It feels so good to be back in this warm fraternity of @TechEnclave - a community which has been of great help and support to thousands of citizens over the years.

Meanwhile, since I escalated the matter directly to LG CEO level, I have to tread carefully and with all evidence to show that my particular OLED TV had an Overheating Issue (admitted by LG when they recalled over 60K globally around July 21 2020). I will try my best to fight this case with LG to demand a REPLACEMENT.
Will LG admit it's error?
Will I get Justice?

I don't know.

The cost of repair/replacement (if this issue was correctly analyzed - which IMHO is NO!) is equivalent to buying a NEW TV!

Also recall my posts on @TechEnclave where I fervently promoted the LG OLED
https://techenclave.com/threads/looking-for-the-best-65inch-tv-under-2-lakhs.186060/#post-2141713

This is also the standard response I recd on my mail (see attached images) from LG plus 2 calls already from LG.

Sorry mate, Your title says 2.6L and the OT says 2.6K. Maybe a spell mistake.

On the topic: No amount is small amount. When I lost my 5.1 Speakers and Manufaturer says, you are as good as f!@#.. I was really dipressed. Didn't feel like talking to anyone as i was left with disappointing response from the company rep.

Please do what ever is necessary for a resolution that is acceptable to you. Sometimes we need to find a common ground. What ever decission you take, own it.

Keep us informed so that members know what needs to be done when such things happens to them

My 2 cents.

Ohhh dear ..... did I goof up with 2.6L instead of 2.6K ..... damm
BUT I pray the message of my PLEA is clear.
I do not know if I can now modify the TITLE of this post .....hai

sorry to here this mate. for safe side, do take a second opinion from other technician if possible.

No experience with any LG products, but 7000 hours of use is absolutely nothing for OLED.
Is there any possibly, it was damaged due to power fluctuation ? - this is the only logical cause i can think of.
Else i see this as totally bad craftsmanship.

whatever the reason definitely peruse this case.

Power or Voltage fluctuation in Mumbai is unheard of... It is consistent ALWAYS at 220V and we pay the highest rates for ELECTRICITY in India...... just for uninterrupted 24x7 power. No one in Mumbai uses any secondary devices - like UPS / Power Invertors / Generators etc ... So this is ruled out!

There is physical damage on your TV - no way are they going to agree to replace anything.
CORRECTION

What is/was the Cause of this physical damage .... Let this be debated & proved
Was it from 'Customer's end'
OR
A Deficiency of the Manufacturer!

Unless we learn to take up these fights in India with Global Giants .... who operate with kids gloves to their customers in US & Europe but will treat us (third world citizens) like vermin.
@LG India has to give a rational response!

I sympathise with your loss. I had a Macbook pro that was eligible for a free keyboard replacement program from Apple due to its butterfly keyboards issues. I was denied the replacement because there was a tiny chip on body where it has sharp edges - something not unusual for a 3 year old Macbook Pro.

I doubt you will get any respite. Manufacturer cannot promise a product to last a lifetime. You had 3 years of warranty, it performed well and then went bust.
You need to count your losses and move on.

Kindly Note LG RECALLED over 60K units of this super expensive OLED TV on July 20-21st 2021 due to OVER-HEATING issues!

So was the Problem Really solved even with the main power-motherboard FREE replacement!

This is really a sorry and scary conclusion.

SO WE GIVE UP & RESIGN TO OUR FATE...... Wow!
