Looks like an IHS (internal heat spreader) rather than a heatsink. But nevertheless, so long as it doesn't get hot, it's safe.

Congrats! And a nice little description there, though the camera pic really doesn't say much :)

I had one question regarding the clarity as compared to the same file when played from a PC / laptop on the TV vs the HDVP2 on the TV. Would you be able to do a comparison?!
 
Clarity in what sense ? Its a digital signal so there is no loss of quality . Rest depends on how good your TV panel is .
