hi guys..,need a new gpu within 10 to 12k.. i thought of msi r 5770 and ordered also.but just seen the bug probs with it,,:S

so thinking abt wht to get instead of it.. or stick with it..?

guys i am having the moolah in my hand and wanna get it asap..!!! so suggest gpu which will b future proof as no upgrade in 4yrs..and good service...!!:ohyeah:

I'd go for GTX 460 768 MB, its available for under 11.5k. BTW no card will be future proof for FOUR years. You would be lucky with 2 at max.

guys i read in some forums and googled it tht hd 5770 has some bugs...some says tht it turns the screen in greyscale..io dont know wht its all abt..as i dont hav one,,i was going to get it but as i saw the posts i changed my mind..!!

now gtx 460 is a good card as per reviews and posts r there but hows hd 5850 i knw its a bit high than my budget but can consider it...!!!

Go with 5770, you won't regret it. I have this card and I haven't faced any issue as yet. Runs almost all recent games at 1920x1080 max settings. Else, add another 2k and go with 5850 to be future proof for atleast an year.

Bluffy, if you are not aware of the hardware scene ATM, the GTX 460 makes better sense over the 5770 now. The 768MB version beats the 5770 by a good margin at stock clocks. In fact, it proves to be an excellent competitor for the 5850 in some of the games by almost equaling the performance of a 5850 in full HD resolutions. The power consumption is slightly higher than the 5850 during loads but the chip runs cooler compared to the 5850 and 5770. :)

+1 for the GTX 460 768MB.

Is that a joke? :\
Yeah it is. :)

Generally on PC we need to keep upgrading, which is not the case for consoles.
Cant spend so much money. :(

I'm an owner of ATI Radeon MSI Hawk 5770 HD. There are no issues with, plus it runs extremely cool and comes pre-overclocked, I can play almost all the games on full resolution with features set to high. However, my RAM (Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit) is holding me back as I need 4GB and currently I have 2GB. I would suggest you to go with MSI Hawk 5770 HD, its a great card, with awesome cooler, you won't regret the purchase I can bet on it.

Check out my thread at Show-Off Section as follows:

That may be the case but the OP has already ordered 5770 if I understood him correctly and is backing out only because of his doubts surrounding the product. I just wanted to assure him that I haven't faced a single issue with 5770 so far, infact it has been the most stable card I have owned thus far.

The GTX 460 does outperform 5770 but not by a large margin and I don't think spending 3k+ only to gain a few more frames and some extra heat makes sense. The DX 11 games aren't going to run well on either of these cards anyways. So maybe its worth going for a cheaper value for money option right now and spend the moolah when the real DX 11 cards arrive. But still, if he has the extra money to spare and an option of choosing GTX460 over 5770, he should take it by all means, his choice. :)

xbox 360 are for casual gamer

not hardcore gamers:P

there's simply no comparison:no:

@arnab

you need to have atleast a vx450 for gtx460(768mb or 1gb):)

can these cards 5850/5770/GTX460 run on coolermaster extreme powrer plus 500W without any problem as i am too looking for an upgrade ... currently using 9800GT

^It may work but it isn't the best power supply out there. I wouldn't recommend the Extreme Power Plus range at all leave alone the 500W model for such setups.

I have the same PSU (CoolerMaster EPP 600w) and so does my friend, he is running a 5850 and a phenom cpu, it is running ok for him without any problem.

^Duh would you try reading what I posted once again? I never said it wouldn't work with the 5850. All I meant is this power supply is not the best efficient supply out there, may not have a load protection built in, the ratings on the sticker could be bloated figures etc. If you can invest in a 16~17k worth GPU, you can as well set apart some budget for a good power supply. When your friend's EPP blows one day, he would probably realise then.

I dont remember accusing u of anything, i myself bought a VX 550 for my new GTX 460 dude, i know CM EPP 600w is not the best PSU around.
