well he was emphasizing on "VIDEO part" thats why i suggested O2, since the D2 screen size is way smaller .

Ofcourse the battery life of O2 is lesser..aint that obvious?..with a bigger screen and higher resolution ...O2 has the same codec support as D2 , Soundquality maybe not be as good as D2, still its fine enough compared to other players on the market .

You can get O2 16gb for 12.5k via KMD

that is true..the biggest disadvantage of o2..lack of ID3 support

Anyways i just suggested O2 coz it seemed the buyer was more bothered abt video part than audio , go for D2 if otherwise.

yup dude, i was more bothered abt the video part than audio first.
even on anythingbutipod the reviewer does not say that watching and converting videos will become a pain after sometime (except for samsung p2). just now i realise after getting views of people owning a video enabled pmp that converting videos sucks.

also appreciate your helping me out. no hard feelings i hope. ;)

wonder if i will get to see the players in action somewhere? only then i could decide keeping in mind the prices too.

lol...it can be risky....If it works very well.....then its an amazing piece with that price:clap: .
I was planning to buy it , but ended up with sony from KMD. The only prob with P2 , that it has some audio jack problems.
I think they are selling it , since no one buys samsung [apples dammit] OR they might be some OLD STOCK .[ they are sealed packed piece]

LIke I said man, you'll get bored watching video on PMP...it maybe sounds fun at first...but it gets annoying after a while.

Music is the 'true' key. not video. Get a PMP which got the great sound + great battery life + good music navigation system. Otherwise the whole point of PMP lost its meaning.

^^ me three. beng visiting it from past one week just to finalize the pmp.

Man its getting even more hard for me now. The fuze 8gb costs half of the d2 and has good audio quality. Video sucks though. But if like you said a person gets tired of watching a video on small screens then the extra money would be a waste, wouldn't it?

Here is the thing.

Sound quality wise.

D2>>Fuze.

Battery life wise.

D2>>>Fuze.

D2 is so much customizable. As you already read in ABI review.
D2 got SDHC expandable slot. Get a 8,16 gb and add it up. Double your space without compromising any speed. Cause SD contents plays in same speed like D2's internal memory.

Its upto you now. But you said 10k is your budget. And I really think D2 8gb really worth the price. And get it from your city dealer rather than KMD or COWONINDIA site. It'll be like 9k maximum from your city dealer.

Aladdin bought the cowon d2 for 8.1k in Alfa back in aug.

btw how much does the fuze 4gb and 8gb versions cost here?

Messa and 6pack got a Cowon D2 today, and I am liking it :) sound quality is awesome, now anywhere I can get tips on optimizing it for trance music ?

COWON D2 suits your budget nicely. It has pretty good video and audio playback and long battery life. The only gripe's are the small screen size (2.5") and the need to convert video.

iPod Touch costs 3~12k more (depending on the capacity), has inferior quality audio, need to convert videos, does not have a wide screen aspect ratio screen which means you cannot use the full area of the screen for videos encoded at 16:9 ratio, screen is only 3.5" (of which again you are not getting the full area for videos due to the non-wide screen aspect). It does not have memory expandability either. The only advantage is that it can act as a PDA/Internet Tablet and also app support.
Alternatively if you want something in the 10~15k range, you should also look at Archos 605 WiFi. It has a good 4.3" high res screen, does not need video conversion and comes in both flash memory and hdd versions.

Like @Aces said we got the D2 today :hap2:

Got some pretty good quality earphones bundled with that.

Was thinking of getting a pair of sony earphones too but decided against it after hearing the quality of the stock earphones.

Wonder how good they'll sound after the burn in period :ohyeah:

will convert some anime to try them out.

One problem though. It doesn't show pics even though i have pasted some jpegs in the pictures folder. Any help

edit: they showed up in the menu after some time :)

I checked between the Ep-630 and stock earphones, the Ep-630 sounds better. I have the 2.55 firmware on default the site list 2.59 firmware as latest, however the download screen gives an error.

The screen is a lil too small for watching videos, but the sound quality is awesome. Am however not too happy with the slider for an on/off switch, cause those get spoilt quickly, my older zen's got spoilt rendering the player useless.

Whats really ridiculous with other better players (Samsung P2, Cowon S9) etc, is they dont have support for memory cards ? Now that aint too expensive to implement I wonder why its overlooked..

We got the 8gb ones for 10k, with 1 year warranty.

^ how do you update the firmware? do we need to install the programs on the cd first? i usually dont install any programs bundled with anything until its absolutely necessary.

also found out that its a pain in the neck to convert mkv's to avi.

i think i'll stick to playing music in the player for now.

^^ The Jet Audio software is a bloatware, but it lets you convert various files..

Regarding updating a new firmware:

D2 Firmware - iAudiophile.net Forums

How To Install Any Firmware: Back up your media data - it will be erased.

1. After downloading your new firmware unzip it to reveal 3 folders labelled 0,1 and 2.

2. Drag the Contents of folder 0* to the root* of your D2, then disconnect your D2 from your computer (this should cause your D2 to switch off)

3. Power on the D2, watch the firmware upgrade progress, when it finishes connect your D2 to your computer and drag the contents of folder 1 to the D2 root. Disconnect D2.

4. Again power on the D2, repeat step 3 but this time use the contents of folder 2 instead of folder 1. Disconnect D2

5. Finally power on the D2, watch the upgrade progress, once this has completed you have successfully installed firmware on your D2 - now you must add music, videos..whatever.. to your D2.

is there any difference between Cowon's D2 4gb/8gb/16gb versions ? like some limitations and all ? or just the memory size is different ?
