CPU/Mobo Need advice upgrading Processor/Motherboard/RAM

I might be ordering processor from flipkart after all, since no local vendor is willing to get it for me from Nehru Place.
Is see in flipkart that i7-2600K is just Rs 150/- more that i7-2600. Though I don't overclock, shouldn't I be getting i7-2600K for "improved" on-die graphics (HD3000)?
On the other hand I will lose VT-D and TXT support of i7-2600 but frankly I don't know whether I will be making use of these features at all.
Please advise.

Think hard and well, the Intel HD3000 iGP is not a great necessity.

The HD 6670 will be a much better supplement to your standard HD2000 iGP and in emergencies I doubt you will experience the need for the more powerful HD3000 as the former is more than enough for your needs.

Just go for the vanilla i7 is my take on this conundrum. Wait to hear from other members, Cheerio!!

Thanks for the reply! You are right that possible improvement in graphics will be much more noticeable if I buy a separate graphics card. One question though - If in future, I do buy HD 6670, will my SMPS (CoolerMaster Real Power 450w) be able accommodate its power requirements (along with the rest of components)?

@rshri, it will be able to handle the load but the number of hard-drives that you can add will be constrained.

I plan to use my existing drives (listed in first post), plus the SSD drive you suggested. Will this lot be bearable for SMPS?

With 1x optical drive + 2x hard-drives + 1x SSD you will occupy all the SATA power connectors of your SMPS so you cannot add any-more drives until you will replace any of the current ones.

So you will absolutely not be able to upgrade your storage in this situation but the system should work fine.

And I hope it really is a Real Power Pro 460W SMPS not the cheap eXtreme Power Pro 450W. If it is the latter you need to change your SMPS as well.

It seems legit but I am not sure if it will be compatible with current generation hardware that runs on the newer Intel ATX12V 2.3 standards.

Here is the ATX12V 2.x standards broke down -- ATX - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!!
The SMPS is already compliant with ATX12V v2.0 standard. Comparing with V2.3 standards I suppose its just missing 6/8 pin PCIe power connectors which I think are not required for HD 6670. If SMPS is still efficient enough, it ought to work with new hardware.

i want to point out one thing alpha17,
why to include rs.4500 cpu cooler when you neither plan to overclock and nor having k series processor which can be overclocked?

Because OP wants it and because the Core i7 2600 is a processor that gets super-toasty, super-fast.

Hi,
Crucial 128GB solid state drive is currently not available. Should I consider OCZ vertex 4 as an alternative? Is it better or worse?

Go for the Corsair Force GT series drives in this scenario.

Crucial may be back in stock in 7 days. Should I wait or go for Corsair Force GT?

Hold out for a week OR two, if till then the Crucial's are not back in stock then you can go for the Corsair Force GT SSD. Are you sourcing them from Prime ABGB, Bombay?

Yes, Prime ABGB. No one else seems to be selling it online!
