thats for replacements boss NOT NEW stuff, if u get used stuff the FIRST time u order a product mind you NOT a replacement, thats ILLEGAL FYI

Even for replacements, that's not fair... one pays for a brand new display, replaces for some dead pixels, and gets a used one!?!? :@

^^that fine print is actually standard industry practice.like it or hate it, unfortunately thats the way it is..

though on the brght side, this helps in keeping the bundled warranty costs low...

Cant do anything about it...Dell has a package deal with MS on this....but maybe think about it as the one time fee you are paying to M$ for having used their OSes for so long ;)

XPS line usually has very few (Almost never) coupon discount in the US as compared to regular discounts on Inspirons...Similarly in India, Dell will give you discounts over the phone on Inspirons but will generally not budge on the XPS.

However, a friend who placed the order for the XPS M1210 yesterday managed to get Dell to Waive off the Chennai sales tax of 4.2%,

Ya where is Vandal.

Btw Google called a Sales Representative. but SHE denied any kind of Discount on the LCD tho we buy in a bulk of 4-5 lcd. So i was thinking if some1 can talk to the manager about this, it may help. Vandal where are u :S :S :S.

hehe....trust me fellas, don't even think of a 20-25% discount on the XPS.... I even scrounged around for XPS coupons for the Dell US site but no luck....there are bizillion discount coupons for the Inspirons on dell US, and reasonable phone call discounts on Dell India (Inspirons again)

If in case this helps, I got my XPS through a Dell employee (thanks mate if you are listening!) and managed a 5% discount, which is almost the same as what my friend got (4.2%tax waiver) by simply reasoning out with the rep

The XPS m1210 is damn expensive and has no disc coupons. I ordered two of them thru out internal channels yesterday. They were the website marked price... not a penny less. They waived the tax though if u can call that a discount :P.

looking at the selling prices and the amount of taxes they levy, yes tax waived off can be called a discount...

Frankly, the XPS 1210 can't be called expensive at the current rates given the config, build quality and the fact that it is a 12.1" machine..(the small size/weight premium) not to forget that spec to spec, the India prices are still considerably cheaper than the US for a (welcome) change!

Anyway, getting back to the topic...Dell India does not have coupon discounts

Having said that, there is a fair scope for on-call baragins for their budget lines.
