Need feedback about Bangalore

^ That reminds me of a funny incident I had. I got a call from a plumber, and he started speaking in Tamil. So I said, "Tamil teriyaadu". He replied back with "I don't know English". LOL

Hi Guys,

I need some feedback about Bangalore because I am given option to work there :)

I read this article ... Bangalore - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So weather seems to be cool which is good :eek:hyeah:

Here are points on which I am looking for personal feedback who have been to Bangalore (and if Mumbai too then too good :cool2:)

1. How is life there specially at night and weekends?

2. Is north indian food available easily?

3. How much is the rent for fully/semi furnished 1/2 BHK flats? (I know may depends on area but I am not asking about posh areas ;))

4. How good is electronics and/or computer parts availability? (specially compared to lamington road :p)

Let me know your point of views :D

Thanks in Advance ... Regards

^ at least I didn't started with "hot girl" and "language" things :p

anyways ... back to the track ... What are the good high download speed ISP options in Bangalore? I use MTNL here in Mumbai.

^ and ^^ thank u guys

i just checked both airtel and bsnl websites for broadband tariff ... and i must say ... both r sucking BIG TIME

Airtel -- max 256kbps after FUP

BSNL -- max 512kbps after FUP

Any other option? Anything at least 1Mbps unlimited pleaseeeee :(

You may need to check the private cable operators if they do stuff like what 5 net and others do in Mumbai.

On the brighter side if there is such a thing you will benefit from the Lan for DC hubs anf gaming ;)

I hope they have something on those lines in Bangy. Will check with my mates and update here.

There prolly are operators like that but with wires hanging overhead and subject to interruptions its a bad choice if reliability is key. So in the end real value works out to be the same. pay more have less hassles or vice versa ;)

First of all let me thank u all :D

Now I have decided to move to Bangalore and again as usual I need your help :ashamed: ... so here r questions

1. Areas with good bus connectivity to whitefield and cheap rental flats

2. I have some heavy stuff to move to bangalore, so need suggestion on how to take them. Stuff is glass table and my PC (mentioned in my signature)

3. Anybody using reliance or tikona broadband? They have good unlimited plans so need feedback on them :)

4. House maid comes for house keeping stuff? How much are the charges?

1) No Idea :ashamed:

2) Forget the Glass table as you will not get it in 1 piece until and unless you use packers and movers. Take your PC in installments. Take the CPU along first and get the others couriered

3) Reliance and Tikona are generally good. Only that you should ask around to ensure that the area you are moving in are close by to the towers.

4) Maids are slightly cheaper than in Mumbai. Try to find one which is employed by other North Indian people as she may know the cooking and stuff.

PS: You can use Gati or people like Agarwal packers and Movers. They will charge a lot but hopefully it will be tension free. :)

^ Thanks man for fast reply. :) I have sent query to movers and packers so hoping to hear soon, however I'll call them in morning.

Can I send PC stuff like HAF 922 cabinet, my mobo, PSU etc via movers and packers safely? Also any idea abt their pricing?

OT : Is Rep button missing??

No Rep button in General Talk and frankly I dont really need those. Appreciation itself makes me happy

I would suggest you to pack everything in the original packaging but before putting it in make sure you put in lots of loose thermocol and bubble wrap "INSIDE" the original packaging. Putting it on the outside will be totally useless. Also ensure the packaging is bulletproof as in use 5 ply or 7 ply cardboard to pack the boxes again. Plus their shipping costs is per KG. I remember paying Gati INR 13 per KG when I sent my stuff from my hostel to home plus an initial charge and insurance. Total was 1500 bucks for around 60 KGS. If that gives you an idea. The stuff was delivered as promised in 7 days.

1. Depends on which part of whitefield you are looking for. You can look at Kundanahalli and Marathahalli. 2BHK Flats rent range from 8k-12k in and around Marathahhli. You get bus number 333p to whitefield.

4. House maid for cleaning/washing alone costs 700-1000. Cook might cost 1200-1500.

1. There is no such thing as a cheap rental flat in Bangalore, especially near Whitefield area. Be ready to shell out at least 10k to 12k per month for a decent 2BHK flat in the area. As mentioned above, Kundalahalli and Marathahalli are good areas to look at. They are very well connected to Whitefield, and both have several apartments giving you a wider choice to decide from. You can also have a look at HAL, Domlur and Koramangala areas, although they are comparatively farther from Whitefield. All these areas are well connected through Volvo buses.

2.3.4. Do not have much of an idea.

1. Whitefield, Kundalahalli, Marathalli, AECS Layout- These areas are well connected with Volvo Buses 500, 333 and 331.

2. Packers and Movers.

3. Nope, but when I was in Whitefield, I used Tata Indicom WiMax: Pretty stable connection just like DSL.

4. House Maid will take around Rs 700-800/- for cleaning etc...cook will take another Rs 1200/-.

I have lived in bangalore for 10 years. Its slightly expensive in terms of basic necessities and crowded but not as much as mumbaai!!
the answeres u need
1. Konquerer answered ur 1st question
2. Leo packers and movers or agarwal packers and movers. leo will be more preferred as they are headquartered in bangalore. i had a dinning table custom made copletely of glass. they did it wonderfully. and they also offer insurance!!
3. I am using Bsnl broadband and its the cheapest and fastest around here. for the speed it offers at any given rate is by far the most cost effective and fastest.. and u can get a broadband conection in two days.. GUARANTEED by bsnl!!!! Reliance and airtel are cheats with flawed billing!!
4. Whitefield is quite a posh area so maids will be sligtly expensive around 700-900 and cooks a flat rate of 1500.. Beware of the maids!!! They are thieveing idiots who steal at any given oppurtunity. even if it costs more hire a trusted maid and as much as possible stay in an apartment! More security AND FOR GOD SAKES DONT ABANDON GOOGLE MAPS!!!!
