Hi,

As my residential area is going more & more insecure, I have decided to implement technology to the fore. :)

I'm looking for Fingerprint door Lock to replace the traditional system of lock and key.

I've seen Zicom products but heard pretty ordinary reviews about its stability and service. :( I'm looking for more options.

Requesting some options.

do finger print doors have any redundancy ? they need a constant power source afaik, if u cut the power to it , its kaput ( unless its backed by a triggered alarm which in turn also needs a power source , batts i guess for it ) - neways, dont go for elcheapo ones.

a quick google yeild this - Biometrics india, Fingerprints india, Biometric fingerprint, Time Attendance recorders, Access Control, USB Fingerprint scanners, Door locks, Electronics Security systems, Biometrics products software manufacturer distributor dealer services systems,

Thanks for replying. Now these days even laptops have them. so the technology has matured. plus they also can be opened from keys and numbers.

I'm looking at you link.

Yes, i have been looking at this for my new house and I am thinking about either fingerprint locks or remote locks which use a small remote like a car door lock. Here are the links I have so far, I live in the USA so I don't know if you can purchase from these companies directly, but at least you will be able to find brand names to look for.

The locksmith just said to use locks that could not be opened with this hack. He mentioned a cpl of names but could not hear them.

Is there a need to go even further ?

My lock is quite old but i can tell you that this trick will not work :)

Actually flat above got robbed. The robbers BROKE opened 3 locks. They used instruments to break the latches of 3 doors.

So what I'm thinking is to install a lock which alerts when broken (though it should be very hard to break it). It should give some sort of alarm when its fiddled with.

edit : i remember seeing a simple yet very very efficient system at my uncles place , the other day i saw the "same" system working at a via-via-via relatives place too.

the mechanism is simple yet efficient - IMO, works on the basis of a Closed Circuit. The door has a small metal plate and so does the frame of the door. For this to be efficient it needs to be placed at the bottom or at such location where a metal object cannot be inserted to override the system. Ideally everyone has double door systems these days.

So when the door is closed the the circuit is complete and hence all is fine. As soon as the door is opened it emits a high eminent high pitch noise to indicate the door has been opened. In cases the door has been opened by intention a small switch over-rides the system to indicate that the door is opened on purpose and not broken into. needless to say this needs a backup battery to run on or needs to run on car batteries only.

Also saw this the other day, although not sure if they had fingerprint security but they did have CCTV cameras etc.

I don't know how it is over there, but I am going to have an alarm system installed. Here there are companies that will charge very little for the equipment and the installation, and you pay a monthly charge ($25-$35 per month) for monitored security that follow up when an alarm on their sytem network goes off. Here companies like Brink, ADT, GE, and Bay Alarm all offer these types of security.

Guys, after some rsearching came to conclusion that Biometric doors are not very resilient. So dropped that idea.

But now looking for keypad locks. Below one is rated for highest security, even tested by bullets and has an intruder alarm (which is most important criteria) as well.

Sunnect, Inc.

hi,
