I had 3 HDD's conected and one Usb HDD 80 Gb connected i noticed that the USB HDD would make noise. I had to connect both the plugs in to give it ample power my mobo suppots usb 1.1 only. Now a few days ago withouth the USB HDD plugged in my oldest hdd 4 gb plugged in crashed it used to make a sound on shutdown. Yesterday my 40 gb has begun to make a sound on shutdown. Do you think i have a problem with my PSU? or what could be the cause. My HDD's are nearly full with data the 4.3 was full till the brim virtually.

Any suggestions?

can you give us any idea on psu you are using(rating, brand), also what else have you connected with your system like optical drives, gpu etc

run chkdsk to make sure your drives not corrupted, run a/v, a/s etc
what about your system temp's, is your sys o/c, the list goes on & on.

so first thing, give details on your system :( that would help members in narrowing down the reasons.

hi sorry managed to solve the problem my ****ing power cable was loose behind so i guess it was shorting a little ........ :( sorry
