Need new PSP slim buying Guide..

I am planning to get a new PSP Slim. I will be getting it from singapore so would like to know which firmware version to get and anything else that I should be buying along with it for using the modded firmwares?
 
thinking of getting a PSP Slim too, looking at the downgrade guide, it's complicated and I am worried I will "Bricked" it
 
only way to downgrade a slim is with someone elses already downgraded psp and there is 0 chance of bricking now

ive already unbricked and dgraded a dozen psps

i've been reading reviews and comparisons of the psp slim and phat and after all of that, i still can't figure out which is a better buy.

a friend of mine in bombay wants to buy one and he asked me which to go for, and i couldn't answer him.

the slim is thinner/lighter, but then arstechnica says that it looks 'cheap' because of that. tv out is a useless feature. there are all sorts of design decisions involving the umd drive, mem card slot that make the new one flimsier. also it has lower battery life from what i read. inspite of all this, it's still recommended to go for the newer slim. i don't understand that.

can anyone recommend which one to go for (first time buyer)? is the slim worth the extra 1k that it costs?
 
best thing about the slim is lower weight...thats all

helps a long way if you use the psp for hours on end

but it does look cheeper than a phat
 
buy a slim , will help your hand in the long run , ive played for hours toghetehr n if u intend to play for a while it does get stressed a bit, slim is nice n light n thin ,u can get the phat batt for it n increase batt life, u get the phat cover too , it will jus lie tlilted on one side if you are ok with that.

id suggest the slim anyday , besides the redesigned spkrs n all r better too.
 
I just met nuke to compare his PSP and my Slim and must say the Slim is really

lighter than the old PSP which is really very heavy , ur hands will pain after gaming for hours where as SLim is really light and has a better battery life too.

Btw Thanks to nuke my firmware is now 3.71 M33-2 , Thanks a world mate.
 
guess i'll tell him to go slim then. nuke can i ask him to call you for the pandora downgrade?

also, is there any reason to move up to 3.71 m33-2/3 from 3.52 m33-4 right now?
 
yeah maybe cause it has the NO UMD feature

and also better support with add ons and themes. etc.

ok...tell him to mention that you sent him and also i wont be around 17-27
no reason i can see to upgrade from 3.5 if you have a phat
ive had no problems with any games till now
 
i compared my fat psp with my friend's psp slim...found out following thingz
1)screen brightness is more in slim..
2)game loading is faster in slim .. tried loading games like svr2007, carbon ,burnout ... all opened up qucikly in slim...
3) most important is they have revemped memory slot,wifi button in slim..
i couldnt use fat psp earfone remote in slim as slot seemed tight..:( ..
slim has polished finish at back.. and very much lighter then fat psp

will go for psp slim soon.. psp slim with 3.60 firmware is best custom firmware till now...

okies, although that might be an issue as he has his mind set on buying it after the CAT (18th) and i donno if he'd wanna wait :P

any chance he can pick up a pre-modded psp slim? and yeah, should i send him back to 'our' shop or alfa or what?

as for the firmware, yeah i haven't had any problems yet. i've heard of socom tactical strike not working on 3.52 but that could be due to a whole number of reasons. i have the game but no disk space to try it yet. btw, 4gb isn't enough either. wish we had 16gb memory sticks :P
