Need new PSP slim buying Guide..

okie dude. Thanks a lot for ur help! BTW, i live in delhi, currently i am in chennai for 2 months.

I saw PS3, XBOX360 and PSP at Spencer Plaza (a mall) here, i am thinking of buying a PSP in chennai so that i can pass my time (2 months) playing games on PSP. But if something goes wrong with it, i'll have to get it serviced (paid service) from delhi. Any suggestions?
 
i was reading some PSP threads on TE. Got some new doubts. Do i need to get a specific version of PSP firmware while buying a PSP, so that i can downgrade it later? What is the current firmware and what version should i downgrade it to?
 
okie, that's gr8! how to differentiate b/w a fat and slim PSP? Is the model number mentioned on a PSP? I think PSP Lite in PSP 2000.
 
^True ...the other day i go into SONY WORLD and ask how much does a PSP Slim cost the guy cracks up and calls his frnd who was at another counter he told that guy that i was looking for a PSP Slim and both laughed at that point i got really pissed off and Questioned the sales guy as to why he is laughing so much he apologizes and says that there nothing called a PSP Slim and that it s called the PS2 Slim..thats wen i laughed my ass off and pulled out a Frndz PSP Slim outta Bag and showed it to him ..His Answer in the end was it was an American Ver...Lol
 
lol, that sums up the retail scene in india. BTW, when will PSP slim be officially available? If i buy it now, i'll have to buy it from gray. How to find out that the PSP i am getting is the slim version?

Edit: Just read on tech2 that the official launch date is in december, 2007.
