well i am having a weird problem with vista. everything seems to be working ok but the net is just working too slowly compared to windows xp. am using dual boot.

msn messenger wont even connect. google talk connects. browsing is extremely slow. te or thl or erodov takes atleast 15seconds to open. no idea what the issue is. when i reboot into xp the connection is fine.

os = vista ultimate x64 & windows xp x64
net = exatt 256k

for config you can check the signature below.

any help or inputs are welcome.

I had a similar problem on XP, turned out it was Norton - reinstall of norton fixed it.

Did you trying re-installing Vista with the default drivers?

yes b4 this thing happened i had the same problem earlier also. so this is a reinstall now causing the same problem.

could it be the lan card drivers? but if it was a driver issue y would all the other sites work except only ms related.

Dunno, it must be some other kind of "protection" that MS may have silently slipped in ;)

yes only a slipup like this can be expected from them blocking off their own sites in their own new os. hehe

Did you resolve this Stormblast? I too have started having strange network problems in my Vista x64 from a couple of days, not slow speeds or anything but mostly browsing websites.. Like when a webpage times out, when refreshed it keeps giving the Problem loading page error as far as i can tell it doesn't even try contacting the website just immediately gives the error.

I thought this could be DNS cache issues and tries 'ipconfig /flushdns', this sometimes works sometime don't. all other applications including messengers, mail, Steam etc. works nicely.

And this happens to every 3rd-4th web address, for example presently no mattter how much i refresh i cannot load www.techenclave.com ; but forums.techenclave.com and everything there opens perfectly.

I mainly use FF but this is happening in all browsers.. I've tried opera, safari, IE too. everything runs fine is OSX on the same system.

Have installed all updates, including drivers.

This is getting way too annoying. please help.

adds..

Ok.. now Messenger had also stopped working, on troubleshooting, it says default gateway appears to be offline.. and all google links are also not opening now. :@

Those who face prob similar to harsh(^) r u all on bsnl??

Even im facing similar problems...
From wat ive been able to gather, Its the bsnl network..
THere r whole lot of attacks on the bsnl network..
My ksapersky firewall showed an attack every 1min..Its generally win d com attack or something..

Now that i removed kaspersky since it started giving probs...
THe same thing has started to happen to me...Im on vista 32bit..Page ont found etc...It happens randomly...
Now im on nod...
Jus once in a while, the sites wont load while torrents wud be full speed...
@harsh-- install a firewall asap..then see...

my problem still hasnt been solved. i dont use vista now its just lying on my other partition. ive not bothered to fix it after trying so many times.

my isp is perfect its not the issue as its working fine on harshals system with vista on the same isp. & xp as usual works perfect.

simple solution - dont install vista.

Try the troubleshooting option after you get the messenger error message.. It will try to repair the problem.. it worked for me when i first installed Vista 64x... if not repair.. it will pinpoint the exact problem.. for eg.. if there is a problem with ports then it will put a red X near 'key ports' ... so u know what the problem is .. then approach your ISP i say
