I doubt the censoring part will last very long before our sanskari govt forces them to censor appropriately for local family values :D

What a bloody joke,
Give me internet Netflix!

Can't even watch hd for a week
My 4k TV is waste
Suppose you are in the US having a high speed internet option of 50mbps by Comcast enforcing 300Gb FUP and the FUP gets over in a week after binge 4k watch .. $10/GB after that. You'd still blame Netflix?

Deepen your pockets![DOUBLEPOST=1452151927][/DOUBLEPOST]Also others who are complaining about cards being not accepted. My SBI intouch debit card was accepted.

I understand why I didn't get any otp SMS yesterday while signing up.. And how my SBI debit card got accepted..http://www.medianama.com/2016/01/223-netflix-2fa-forex-rules-payments/

Its my first time using Netflix and I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong, but the selection of TV shows and movies (English) is EXTREMELY LIMITED.

Everything I search for is "missing" and even if you browse individual TV Genres there's very little to show for.

If this is all they have I doubt I will use it...

At present, I guess Netflix makes sense only in Hyderabad, Bangalore and a few other places. Other cities in the country don't have good enough Internet plans to make Netflix meaningful.

Heck I am myself disinclined to subscribe. Even with a 300 GB FUP, I am having to ration my usage to make it last the whole month.

It just started give it time to settle, on desktop version I found almost all things but hopefully getting update sooner

Not seeing a lot of content. Read that netflix have no license to air a lot of content outside USA.

Anyways, should be able to make full use of my FUP less 4Mbps internet.

How can they censor, doesn't it come under net neutrality or something, since the content is via internet.

Netflix is the source of the content on the net. They will not be allowed to stream any content that violates local laws. Net neutrality does not even come into the picture in this

Net neutrality only prevents an ISP or somebody else in between from discrimination on data based on who it belongs to or what it represents. Net neutrality also makes exceptions for content that violate local laws. If a local govt says that some particular content violates the law, the local ISP would be bound to block it.

How good is the content at the moment? I have seen most of the new stuff unavailable on netflix UK.

I'm sorry to sound harsh but the content is PATHETIC. This is Netflix?!

Even though I understand they are just starting here, I'm stunned they haven't managed to get more licensing agreements for shows.

Another annoying point I found was that I couldn't find a way to limit my search to only English content. Indian (read HINDI) TV shows get thrown in regardless. Surely this is a basic feature? I don't watch Indian content at all so I don't see why I can't expressly filter it out. Or did I miss an option somewhere?

I can't speak for anyone else but there's no way I will take a sub with such pathetic, limited content.

Wanted to ask them about future content but the "Live Chat" wait time is currently 24 minutes.

The only other method of contacting support requires IOS/Android versions of their app. So PC only users (ie. ME) are SOL if you want to contact them and don't want to hang around for 20+ minutes...

UPDATE:- More bad news.
I decided to see a show called "Ascension".

Note that I have my preferences set to the highest allowed setting - "High(best video quality, up to 3 GB per hour for HD, 7 GB per hour for Ultra HD)" and that I am on the plan that reportedly supports 4k content.

The shows starts, the quality of the stream is so damn poor I am stunned. Its not even saturating my full b/w so that's not an issue.

This does -NOT- look anywhere near HD (720p) let alone FULL HD!! I just don't get this.

I would have thought it would be a "basic feature" to LIST the stream quality (if applicable) of the show/movie in the info panel itself for the selection but nope - no such thing. At least none that I could find.

I tried another show, "Orange is the new black" as its newer (2015) than Ascension (2014) and same problem - CRAP ALL QUALITY.

Next I load up a movie - Pacific Rim. Same rubbish crap all quality.

The content quality is IMO, equivalent (actually worse) than one would expect from a 10 year old VCD being used as source material!

This is Netflix?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!??!

I'm just STUNNED at how poor the offerings and video quality of the shows are.

Cancelled my account. There's no way I will waste time on this rubbish even if its FREE for one month...

The most strangest thing was my SBI Debit card getting accepted. I have not created 3D secure password for my card though![DOUBLEPOST=1452168170][/DOUBLEPOST]
What's your internet speed? ISP?

I doubt its my net speed for 2 reasons.
  1. I'm on 6 Mbps and the connection is not even being fully saturated. Not just that, there is no buffering either meaning the stream is continuous without breaks.
  2. Youtube 1080p videos look VERY GOOD on my connection - FAR better in quality than Netflix though the content is obviously different.
IMO, its the quality of the streamed source itself that's seems very poor.

Or maybe its just me having high expectations from Netflix?

However the fact that youtube somehow seems to support far superior HD streaming quality in comparison to Netflix (not comparing Lib content here just the underlying technology) would lead me to believe otherwise.

If more people can try out Netflix and post feedback here perhaps a clearer picture will emerge...

Thanks for that very informative link!

Also keep in mind that the 7% content that Netflix India does have in comparison to the US INCLUDES Indian regional content (Hindi TV Shows & Movies), many of which aren't even offered in the US to begin with...

I asked for ISP name and you are..

I was able to load 1080P videos at 4Mbps? How? ISP has cache of youtube or probably peers with Google. With the same speed i cannot watch FULL HD videos on vimeo or any other site for that matter.
What you get is Shared Bandwdith. Also there is thing called Domestic bandwidth and International bandwidth. Say, YouTube has peering agreement with your ISP then the bandwidth is domestic, Which is dirt cheap and that's why you see 100mbps youtube speed promise by Few. Here Netflix is serving data from Singapore which is international. Let me know about Your ISP so that i can comment more.

There's is no guarantee that you're getting even 5mbps properly. Using Youtube for comparison is not proper as most of the ISP's peer or Cache Google stuff.

I have a 2mbps plan (switched to ssv from tikona) and when I start a video on Netflix, I get normal 200kb/s speed, but after the video plays, speed goes up to 800-900kb/s. But still the quality of the video is crap.
Tried going to acc settings and changing quality to high and also that Ctrl+shify+alt+s thing, but still its bad
