Somehow now my mind is telling me , wait for this dvdwriter.
all the features which this has like DVD-RAM and DVD DL support at 8x is so tempting.
ne sort of idea which this writer can make it to our country.

currently after to much thinking i have decided to get a DW1640 black.

do i sell my benq 1640.....???nope ..btw i guess it wont come here so soon..........benq will try to encash there 1640 famous name first....

Whoa ! I was all set on buying a 1640 and now this pops up !

Can anybody elborate the advantages of the DQ60 over the DW1640 cause I'm not much of an optical drive freak !

Also, how long will this take to reach India and at what expected price ?

I'll bury my 1640 dreams six feet under, and wait for this one.
DQ60 looks 10x better than 1640, IMO. :bleh: IF the images
aren't photochopped.

^^ Ostensibly the images arent "photochopped"...

BTW, is the DQ60 really an improvement over the 1640, or should I still buy the 1640 ?

Those with 1620/1640's stick with their current drives. No point in upgrading even though dvd-r dl is supported cuz DL media still hasnt gained mass acceptance.

anish u and i are sailing in the same boat.
this new one is much better than DW1640.

8X DVD+-Dual layer writing and DVD-RAM writing support are the new added features

Erm.. 2 things:

1) The 8X +RDL feature is already present on the 1640.

2)The drive is an OEM of the TEAC DV-W516E, of which a review is already up at YSS.

Neither are of much use IMHO as of now. Dual layer might become a good thing in future but DVD-RAM is a dead format :P

Disagree. Nothing comes close to the reliability of DVD-RAM for integrity and it's one of the biggest media types for set-top recorders..

Hey Eazy, this is mean man ! Your giving me ASLI sheets to read :( !

C'mon man, just tell me in simple English na ! Which drive is better ?

Ok, let me reframe. Is the DQ60 worth the wait over the DW1640 ?

^^Not really. For normal users, the 1640 is as good as it's going to get. And hey.. from the TEAC DVW516E reviews, it's not THAT great a drive..
