I am looking to buy a new bike in the next week and need some suggestions as i dont have much knowledge about bikes
I browsed the web and liked the following bikes

1. Pulsar 220
2. Avenger 220

My budget is anything upto 1lac

I also liked the Royal Enfield thunderbird but it is over 1lac and i have heard that there is 4-6 month waiting period on an enfield and i cant wait that long as i have sold my earlier bike
I dont like the Yamaha R15 type bikes because they dont look good on me cause i m 6ft tall and have a broad body structure
My normal trips are around 10-15km and i want the bike to be comfortable and powerful i.e. i can speed the bike when i want and i can also enjoy the the breeze when i want to

Please give your suggestions
Thanks

ur best bet would be RE. Locate the dealers who can give u bike a bit earlier.
Trust me all tht running around wud be worth it.

I havent been to any showrooms yet i would be going this week only when i have finalized 2 models b/w which i have to choose so dont really know if the 4-6 month waiting period is a true fact but if it is true then RE is out cause i cant wait that long as i already sold my existing bike and i need to commute everyday

For ur built and long journeys u can also luk at Karizma R.
My suggestion wud be not to opt for bajaj if u r gonna stick with it for more than 2 years.

Like i said i cant wait if i could i would buy a thunderbird
also doesnt pulsar 220 perform better than the pulsar 200ns?
Did u mean 'karizma zmr' 'aquaticbullet'?

no .. i meant karizma r .. go and take a test ride and u will appreciate the engine refinement. :)

Since you need to buy the bike ASAP you can choose amongst the following :
1> Pulsar 220 (avoid this unless you can follow maintainance schedule regularly)
2> Karizma R, as suggested by @aquaticbullet
3> Yamaha Fazer,FZ,FZ-S

I dont like the looks of Karizma r or the fazer
I do like the karizma ZMR in the white but according to what i have heard it is not that good a performer
Also does bajaj have a bad reputation in case of quality?
Ill be using the bike for the next 2 years mostly then ill shift to a car so thats another point to consider

Ok .. can u plz tell me wt will be normal speeds u will be riding at . If u are gonna commute just 30 kms daily then i dont think u shud waste money. but if u are into touring and all then the thngs are diff.
Which was ur earlier bike and how did u ride it ?? like rip her apart or care like baby ??

I had a Suzuki GS150r earlier for 2 years , though i didnt drive it much initially cause i was in school but in the second year i used it more extensively and drove more on highways rather than city roads even took it to 120kmph with my cousin in the back seat
Now as i am in college i normally use metro to travel as it is about 25km away but i thought if i had a more comfortable and faster bike i would use that to get to college especially in winters
I do take care of my bike but my knowledge is quite limited in case of bikes so i dont know if i mishandled it

Ok i would suggest three things based on ur earlier experience with the bikes. Since u have already riden 150 cc bikes and have touched the higher limits then u wud be luking fr smthing which does the same in a much easier manner. With our broad structure i would suggest the following three :

1. karizma r : it has everything u need but the looks dont hold you. My opinion do take a test drive. only cons : low mileage as compared to others.
2. Pulsar 220 : VFM .. if u are going to keep the bike for nt more than 2 years i suggest go for this and then sell if after a couple of years.
3. enfields : they will suit you the best. u can also try standards. If u search hard u may get bike withing half a month.

BTW where are u from ??

You are right there i want a bike which is more stable and easier to ride at that speed
what i have read and heard is that karizma r and karizma zmr have same engines with 2 things added in the zr the fuel injection and one other thing i dont remember and it is supposed to give a mileage of 47kmpl then why not go for the the zmr than r as i love the looks
Pulsar i like though it is an avg looker but the performance seems to be awesome and the idea behind buying the bike now is to use it for next 2years so no problem there
The problem with enfield is that waiting time and i cant do that so they are out
also no one said anything about the avenger and how that is?
i am from delhi

Avenger is from bajaj stable so no brainers for saying that it is VFM bike. It gives u a relaxed posture and u will feel like a maharaja :) ..
If u like the looks of zmr than u can go fr tht but i think ur budget will cross over.
Try the RE shwrums which are at the ends of the delhi or in ggn or sonepat. They have spare bikes. RE is the best thing for u.
This is coming from a person who owns honda stunner, classic 500 and has ridden apache pulsar , unicorn a LOT !!

I only like the RE thunderbird and it is around same price as zmr i.e. 1.1lac and i like the looks of avenger better than the thunderbird
what is the top speed of avenger and how fast does it get to 100kmph?

Pulsar don't last more than 2 years is BS... As for every automobile, it needs to be serviced regularly. Where Bajaj falls short is their service stations don't service your bike properly(except few reputed ones) unless you stay there and keep eye on the mechanic... I have P220 Fi which is almost 5 years old and has clocked ~60k kms... Its still rides as good as it should, I have maintained it well though... Gearbox quality issue was there is the first generation Pulsars(Non DTSi versions)... If you don't follow proper servicing schedule, any automobile irrespective of company will face problems...

Avenger is cruiser, seating position is comfortable but it is not as nimble as other bikes in city traffic and wont give you sporty bike feel...

I only rode my GS150r 8k kms in 2 years
What i feel is that i would get bored with the avenger after some time as it does not seem a practical option in the city ? what do u think?
