New EA/Origin Policy regarding game download time limits?

Just bought a game off Origin about an hour ago as they are having a sale.

Saw a message AFTER I bought it that I have never noticed before. It stated -

"If your order contains downloadable software, you have 30 days to download your purchase. After you download we suggest you save a copy of the downloaded file to an external drive, CD, DVD, or some other storage medium in the event you have computer problems or the downloaded file becomes damaged or corrupted."

Was surprised to see this so I contact Chat support. Got into chat with a support rep named "Avneesh". Posted my question. Waited 20 minutes. No response. Nothing. He didn't reply. Chat was active and working fine. Pathetic support from EA. I'm really shocked.

I googled and found a couple of links about the issue but nothing official.

This new change seems contradictory to their older rules where games could be downloaded as many times and whenever a user wanted. Anyone else know anything about this?

No. I have never seen this. Actually never bought a game from origin store. They just dont learn ever after being rated the worst company.

The 30 days download policy was there since the beginning of origin i think. But once you download it within 30 days or at least started the download within the time frame then it is tied with the account permanently.

This means it can be re-downloaded any number of times there after.

I have bought 21 games on Origin over the years and have never seen that message ever before. Ever.

This is the very first time. That's whats worrying me.

Has EA changed its policy regarding Origin? That's what I want to know.

Like many gamers, I have a large backlog of games. Of the 21 games I have on Origin, I have only ever downloaded, installed and played 1 via Origin, namely BF3. I don't have the time to play the others ATM.

If they are going to enforce "only 30 days for new game downloads" then I will have no choice but to stop buying EA/Origin games until such time as my game backlog is cleared which will probably be - years...

EA is the most unscrupulous company around. You can bet on them to pull of such stunts. I'd not buy anything from them *ever*.

I've bought just a couple of games but i've seen this message, it's been there for a long time. Still, I don't see any reason why they have such a rule. It's very unfair.
