This is is my first post. Greetings to all @ TEl!. Just got a new HTPC for myself. Here is the configuration and price list.Got it from Cost to cost,Nehru place.
CPU-Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33 GHz E6550-6850
motherboard-intel DG33FB-4900
RAM 2GB Transcend 800 MHZ-2900
HDD-SATA Seagate 250GB-2725
DVD Write -Samsung make-SATA-1240
Grafix Card XFX 512 MB -6500
Sound Card -Creative Audigy 7.1-1330
Speakers-Creative inspire-T6060-3950
Logitech-multimedia KB+Mouse-650
Cabinet+PS-Mora-950
Monitor-LG194WT-10000(Purchased earlier)

Running the system on both XP and Vista 32 Ultimate. So far no problems.Comments are welcome. Actually i was try to build the system based on gigabyte or biostar motherboards with DVI/HDMI outputs, but finally settled for the intel MB and CPU.
 
whats your budget? cause you are better off buying a diff motherboard sound card and speakers for your HTPC.

Speakers: Logitech x540 atleast

BTW do you have link/picture of the cabinet?
 
Hi folks,
I must say that i am an absolute newbie in the field of HTPC/Gaming Systems. It is just a beginning and i hope to graduate to nirvana stages later on with all the support and inputs from gurus here.
Yes, i do have a pinnacle PCI Card and gemini USB TV tuner for watching TV on PC. The cabinet is a modest one and there is no RAID functionality on MB. For the time being i am going to use it for watching TV/DVD movies and occasionally gaming. Hope i could arrive at a better configuration in my next attempt.
