Idea:

When Member Reaches the minimum post (for Entering Market Section) a request of that particular username should be auto generated and goes to the mods for approval.after the approval ( By just checking the previous post ) from the mods they will be allowed to enter Market Section. I know its Little work for the mods.. or Mods can appoint Good people who can do this approval only.

^^^ i agree with rahulmig. this would ensure that only genuine people interested in TE community and techstuff would get access to market.Mods can verify their posts and then approve them.

On a second thought, mods will have some more load of verifying all of their posts.

+1 rahulmig, great idea.

As for what mhamirma said, the staff can recruit another person just to manage the members, accept them into the market section, remove them from the market section, provide bans and warnings. Basically who takes full responsibility of the members behavior on TE. Great idea IMO. :)

My bad, but i think its bad to assume the worst in people.

TE is made up of much more than the market section.

Oh well, I can see that it was spam, cleverly disguised as well.

I do also think that the above idea is a good one. I volunteer for this minor policing work.

there you go folks.

his market thread has been closed. On top of that, either he has made a new profile, or he already had another one, by the same name too. He's told everyone to PM him on that profile for the deal.

what cheek this guy has!

I see nothing has been done in this matter and new members continue to do the same.

Another example.

The guy has bumped up old threads spanning the last 2-3 months. His posts have spanned 2 pages, though i could show one only in the pic above. Some may argue they are relevant posts, but well, it can't get clearer enough as to what the guy is doing.

I really urge the moderators to consider this in light of the numerous Market mishaps in the recent months.

Tho following can be considered.

* Restricting access to the market section for new members only above 100 posts (instead of 35 now) and also lets say after a time period, say 15-30 days. A time limit is a must to avoid cases like the ones i have posted in this thread.

* Having someone verify the members before they are allowed. By verification, i mean one moderator having the task of at least checking through the posts by the certain member, to make sure its not *ALL* spam. I am guessing TE does not need the market section to get more members and hits. If no one is up to the task for the post checking job, i volunteer myself.

This definitely makes more sense.

^yeah +1111!! you knew that was coming.. :P

anyway, if we increase the minimum number of posts from the 35 now to say, 100, that will not reduce the spamming at all.. in fact, it'll get even worse! albeit, some of them will refrain from spamming their way to a 100 posts, some still can..

By having a minimum time period of, say, a month, people will tend not to spam their way into the market section. so i propose a 30-45 day stand-of period for any new member, from his membership date, after which he may post in the market section, subject to the fulfillment of the minimum post count.. be it 25, 35, 50 or whatever..

True. i was also thinking about the same thing. the best option will be to retain the current minimum post count,i.e. 35, add a 15/30 day restriction and have the new members pass through screening of their posts by a mod.

He is into market section now: http://www.techenclave.com/members-market/dell-lcd-sp2208wfp-150468.html

how cud this be possible , a person is able to create thread in market section just with 11 posts when the minimum no req is 35

I'll simplify the procedure.

  1. Join TE.
  2. Try entering Market --> FAILED
  3. Pick a section.
  4. Find all threads, new and old where you can put in a small word. Sometimes any idiotic word will do too.
  5. Put in 35 such posts.
  6. Try entering Market -->SUCCESS
  7. Create your market threads etc.
  8. Mods delete your older posts as someone reported them.
  9. Your job is done. Point and Laugh at the mods and their system.

@Phoenix we had a huge discussion related to the same within mods some time back. Eventually we had reach the conclusion that TE should not be made an exclusivity including the market section.

We have asked the admin to implement a time period for a new member to enter the market sections, something like 35 posts + 5 days, which should hopefully reduce the spamming noticed by Shailesh

^^ But as mentioned in the post by sudarshan, how is that guy able to post in market with 11 posts ??? Is it that posts were deleted reducing the count ??
