before shifting to tata indicom b. band make sure that in ur area the cables are underground .
in my area(in general also) they use overhead cable which frequently get cut and cause hell lot of problems.
or if u can wait for april , bcoz by then tata will be starting wi-max.
speed and customer sevice is not at all a problem , better than other players

Dont care much about new plans now though.....im happy with 256k as long as i get it

my tata 512k ul plan will be kicking in coming monday, so will report on the speeds then. i'm currently using the 256k ul plan, which i've been quite satisfied with. constant 28-30kb/sec speeds plus total of ard 1-2hrs downtime each month. acceptable i'd say

Did you do anything specific to enable it? It shows 512 in my plan but I'm still getting 256 :S. Router still connecting at 544000 :S.

@Params7, speed has been good so far. hovering constantly between 58-60kb/sec for my BT.

@Chaos, no i didn't do anything to enable it. the speeds were automatically upped when my acct reached a new billing cycle for the month and activated the new plan.

my tata bb is not adsl-based, it's via metro ethernet.. so i won't be able to tell what's the connection speed via my router...

I am non Chennai user of TATA , I applied for change from 64 to 256 kbps which expected to start from today onwards.

Tata indicom site is showing my a/c changed to Infinity 256 but torrent, http file downlod/upload is still like 64 kbps no change

I did speedtest & they too showing I am with 64 kbps , I just mailed them about this , let's see wht they are going to say .

g.lite. Ping to gateway is arnd 20ms.

G.Lite modulation can give only 1.5mb down and 512kb up speed rt? how are they gonna introduce the 2mb plans.( the sales guy who came said they may introduce them at end of march)..

also these are my signal stats.

Line Attenuation : 7.0 8.5 db

Data Rate : 544 192 kbps

Are the values normal?? sometimes it takes a long time to sync up. btw im on the 256k UL.
