The CWG 2010 is, by far, the biggest and most blatant, exercise in corruption in independent India's history...

Posturing, something this government has a PhD in, is in full progress. Enquiry reports, vague statements, tossing responsibility from one person to the other will continue, until the Games are over. After that, fingers crossed, people will forget.

In the middle of all this, there will be propaganda campaigns to 'save India's image' and get the Games done somehow. People will be expected to support the event - after all, the pride of India is at stake. The great Indian youth will be called upon to fill stadiums and add energy to the event.

The question is
1) Should the citizens support CWG in the name of nation's pride?
2) If Yes, will the guilty be punished and responsible learn from the mistakes?
3) If No, will the message be conveyed and result in necessary impact?

What morons..we can crib about lost funds and corruption after the games are done. Institute as many CBI inquiries as you want. But before the games, at least put up a unified face. There is nothing you'll get by washing your dirty linen in public and I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure the games are going to be held just fine. A few delays might occur, but nothing catastrophic.

For these special occasions i keep a finger of mine free to flip at those who come to pester me about supporting India and the CWG2010 ....

Something else that we Indians will to live down....

Nation which ended Common Wealth games for good :(

I second the author's opinion on this. We will correct ourselves only if we loose face in front of many others. It will be a sad day, but I would rather hope that it will bring some sense to our so called leaders that people wont support them for whatever they do.

Wow, you really are a positive thinker above par.

As for supporting the games, I don't think its going to matter either ways so far bringing the culprits to book is concerned. Haven't we learnt anything from our modern history?

1. An enquiry commission will be set up headed by a retired Supreme Court judge (who was, by coincidence, sympathetic to the Government in power, when he was a judge).

2. The Commission will be required to submit its report within six months.

3. After 20 time extensions and 6 years, the Commission will submit its 1000 page report, which nobody will read but which everybody will interpret as per his convenience.

4. Somebody would be found guilty by the Commission.

5. By that time this somebody would already be in his 70s.

6. A trial would would be held, that'll examine 1000 witnesses and give a verdict in 5 years.

7. The verdict would be challenged in High Court which will decide the challenge in 5 years.

8. The High Court verdict would be challenged in Supreme Court.

9. Supreme Court will give its decision in another 2 years.

10. There'd be some candle light marches at India Gate and Supreme Court would re-open the matter.

11. By that time, the real culprit would probably be waiting for justice at the Higher Court of The Almighty.

12. People will disclose shocking details in their memoirs 20 years later (though none would sell).

13. India bids for Olympics.

14. Goto 1.

Just watch. I'm willing to bet anything that in the end, the games will be conducted as they are meant to.
Ok.. maybe.. although will be earn that much respect and applause had things been done properly.

What can be achieved via thorough planning and effort cannot be achieved via quick patchwork... and look at the cost

I am completely with the author on this one, we/public have been giving unified face and bend asses to the world for many years, cant support corruption anymore....

the CWG games can go to hell. The government has looted common man's money. I will recommend everyone to stay away from it. Motherf@ckers, dont even have decency to leave corruption while national image is at stake.

I am pretty much sure that the CWG will be unsuccessful. This will another bloat on our already bloated image.

But then nobody gives a f@ck.

I think this will make a awesome movie.... :D

Better than most stupid scripts of current Bollywood movies....
