I was just watching the pictures of 8800 cards from XFX, MSI, Leadtek, Sparkle, Palit, PNY, eVGA etc.

But, none of them have HDMI interface !!

Duh buy any DVI to HDMI cable and it'll work :P.

HDMI houses not only Video signals, but also Audio signals. Check Asus 7600 GT HDMI, which has a line in port. Thats a true HDMI card. Right HDMI isnt widepsread, so maybe, it will take some time to come.

I'm aware of that but why on earth would you need sound signals (read SPDIF) from a video card :P. They can be fed directly using coax or optical. An extra noisy device in the path means extra jitter for free which no one wants :P.

HDMI would really help in a dvd player, but in a PC where the sound card is separate, it woud not be desirable.

^ Doesn't Blueray and HD DVD require HDMI ?? I know they wouldn't be as popular anytime soon but still would be nice to be futureproof

Since we won't be having HD-DVD in our PC for some time at least (and probably never for BR), its rather irrelevant.

^6 even if we do get HDDVD on the PC, softwares will enable take the sound signals from the sound card to compensate. Hence not really required in PC...

I was talking about the requirement of hdmi, in order to play encrypted content on the hd dvd's, along with hdcp capable displays...would've been a nice feature to have with a cutting edge card like the G80
