Nokia N8 - Suffering from Signal issues ?

Several threads in Nokia Support discussion has reported that this device suffers from severe signal reception issues. Is this true ?. And the issue is very annoying after Anna update according to some posts. Nokia N8 users please respond....
 
been using an n8 since the past 3 months... signal reception is excellent...have updated to anna...
 
Mate, other threads are getting bumped up very often and very few give importance to old title. I want to ask the question via the thread title itself which will attract attention from fellow members and so i can get a quick reply. I dont want to end up buying a product which is not worth the buck with my hard earned money...

Cool man, its just text which is not going to eat up any space. But, I wonder what makes you bother this much

Ok. Now i decided to go for it. But one thing which disturbs me is the touchscreen in general. Some people opine that if the thumb is fat it will be difficult to use TS . I have used my wife's optimus p500 several times, but still i havent got used to it . Dont know about the N8. But i am sure that touchscreen typing cant be faster as a physical one.

Guys, can any of you compare the TS of the N8 and LG optimus 500/ other android phones and tell which one is superior ?.

I noticed from the forums that ANNA has introduced some bugs in messaging wherein post update its not possible to delete a single letter but the entire word. Dont know how far this is true....
 
I have already done that. But it was somewhat difficult. For short smses it might be OK, but for texting in forums its wasnt suitable. I hope will get used to it...

As for the messaging bug, i will have to check it...
 
Ok,it was price first,purple tinge issue came next followed by this!

How many threads do it take to buy something like Nokia N8?

Go ahead and get it,it is a good vfm phone.

you are not aware of this, but I have had discussion with him via multiple PMs regarding this last year around December. And I mean really detailed discussion. But my point is not about how much time he is taking in deciding it....coz it's his hard earned money so he has every right to go into as much detail as he wants to make sure where he spends it.

I am only irritated by seeing multiple threads on same topic in such a short period of time. This is a waste of other member's time because say you replied OP in 1st thread but didn't check the second thread. Now a similar discussion may start (just stating a possibility) in 2nd thread where some other member replies with info similar to yours coz this member is not aware of the 1st thread...now both of you have wasted your time as OP has already moved to 3rd thread in the meantime!

LOL, so this has been going on over a year now :rofl: this is turning into obsession cum paranoia for the nokia N8 :P

Because last year before anna was released the phone was suffering from a hell-a-lot of issues, both HW and SW wise. Thats why..

If i have caused such IRRITATION i will stop with this....

As for the ADEXMART - i asked about the reliability of the retailer since i have never purchased anything from him in my lifetime. A fellow member said that he is skeptical about the site. This is the last question one will ask before making a purchase. 21k is not a small amount. For you, even an IPHONE 4S may not be a big thing (no offence meant) but for me even a 5k phone does matter.

Anyway, Thanx a lot buddies for your patience in answering my queries...

I understand 21k is not a small amount (for me too)...and I never said why are you asking so many queries. I was irritated because of multiple threads and the confusion it can create (as explained in my previous post).

Let us know your impressions once you buy the phone. You are gonna like Belle (which will take a few weeks to arrive) and ofcourse the super 12Mp cam! :)
And one friendly advice - sometimes the 0.5-1k that you are trying to save is not worth the effort (personal experience). Just buy from any good store that you trust and enjoy the phone.

Finally i called mobile store and they are ready to offer some discount and a reebok bag. I was also assured that in the event of any issues within 2 days i can get it exchanged with a new unit. I also hope that any issues will come to light within that period itself which is sufficient. So after purchasing will surely let you know....

Exactly. If there are so many concerns about getting a bad piece, I would say go to a Nokia Priority dealer and get the phone there. You might pay 1 - 2 K extra, but you get peace of mind that you have bought genuine stuff, and if at all there is an issue, it will be taken care of. Also, take extended warranty when you purchase the phone :) You will get it at a discounted price if you take it durign purchase!
 
Finally bought the phone but couldnt spend much time with it as i have to charge it initially for 8 hours with the phone switched off as advised by unviercell .

Country of mfr is korea and its imported only last month. Checked a video song and the quality is amazing. But the loudspeaker is not as loud as my E71, no options to upscale/zoom the video but i have to explore it which i will do it tomorrow.. It seems the FW needs some tinkering.

But is the 8 hours initial charge mandatory ?

For the extended warranty of 1yr it costs around 1.5k. There is no difference in cost whether it is applied for during the time of purchase or even after 10 months, because the extended warranty thing is taken care of by nokia care. I confirmed this through nokia care itself. So will use the phone for sometime and then buy extended warranty..

I have one question with the camera. The images (after snap) look slightly yellowish. But not when the camera is live. Is this normal ?.

Is there any advantage of updating the latest FW ?. The device automatically switched to data mode and found some updates. I heard that the latest updates come with good UI enhancements but it is reported in a TE thread that it has slowed down the phone. The phone is with 022 firmware now.

Anything to say buddies ??
 
Cool, which color you got? . Also try playing around with the white balance of the camera settings for the yellowish tinge. Try fluroscent.
