Would be at least 8-10 months before we would see those prices imo.
4090s were selling for 1.5-1.7 not too long ago, dropped to 1.3-1.4 right now depending upon warranty and model.

They'll drop in prices a bit but not much right away after 5xxx series releases if the perf holds up in raster for 5090.

Guys if you are getting 25fps in a game at 4K and if you use DLSS3 which is 2x the frames, you will get around 45-50 fps with DLSS3 framegen. But it feels incredibly laggy and unplayable and you would say playing at 25 fps would be better. Then there is the issue of V-Sync. You need a G-Sync compatible monitor and brute it from NV Control Panel which causes strange latency. I tried gaming on 4090 and 4060 and the framegen truly sucks for racing, fps games. Maybe for strategy games, it could work. I believe when 5090 reviews are out, we will see modest 25% raster increase over 4090 with 25-30% power increase with 30-40% increase in pricing. I see it as an unworthy upgrade for my 4090 which will hold its price at around 1-1.2L

Most leaks have already put the performance uptick at 27% for 30% larger die, 30% higher power consumption and 25% price rise. I suppose this is what happens when competition is unable to target the same performance level. Anyway, 4090 sold out mainly for commerical usage where you can easily recover the money. On the gaming side, those who can blow that kind of money for the latest and greatest will still do so. Nvidia knows very well that those moaning about the generational upift will never purchase the 5090.
 
GN's review was spot on, completely acknowledging Nvidia's smoke and mirrors Frame Gen BS. Actual average improvement (Raster +RT) - 25-30%. Meh. Steve (HWUB) rightfully called it a 4090 Ti.

For F**k's sake, the 4090 was 60% faster than the 3090 Ti for a lower price. The 5090 is half that over the 4090 for a higher MSRP. 5070=4090 my ass. Jensen should really be selling snake oil or be a used car salesman.

The 1080Ti was the last real upgrade over the previous gen.

Yeah, I meant relative to pricing.
There's a reason why they didn't include DLSS4 FG with the 40 series, nobody would buy the 50 series otherwise, specifically the 5090, coz it sucks without it.

Yep I mean a better DLSS 4 upscaler better RR and better frame gen from the transformer model, the 4090 owners should be thanking Nvidia. Also the frame gen now uses less vram so easier to run on 12gb and 8gb cards for 1440p and 16gb cards for 4k

True. They knew they couldn't provide much improvement since it was just an improved process node (4NP) over the 40 series (4N). Both are based on 5nm.
Whereas the huge upgrade for the 4090 over 30 series was due to shifting to 5nm from 8nm leading to more performance and better power efficiency.

This generation is more of a sidegrade rather than an upgrade and I feel this will be particularly an issue with the RTX 5070. Based on the specs, it will be marginally better (<= 5%) than the RTX 4070 Super which was released at the same price almost a year ago. Same goes for the RTX 5080 with respect to 4080 Super and the 4080.

Only exception seems to be the RTX 5070 Ti which could probably be 20 to 25% better over the 4070 Ti (not the Super) which is enough for those upgrading from 30 series.
Another issue is stock availablility. Retailers have reported that they have very less stock of the 5090s (Single Digits btw) which will lead to more people buying the 5080 and the 5070 Ti instead (All the people who sold their 40 series GPUs won't be able to wait for months).

Again, all this is speculation and my personal opinion. I could be wrong about this (and I hope to be). Will have to wait for benchmarks for the final result.
