Personally for me I don't see any reason to upgrade for 3x series owners.
3070 and below to 9070xt is a nice jump at msrp if it ever gets there here.
Nvidia yeah - prices are insane, they dont have interest in supplying as AI gives better margin. Perhaps they might even exit if AI demand is proven to be durable, who knows.
Even if price was right they are broken for me - 5090/5080 have fire risk, 5070ti/5070 seem to have bad drivers/bad 1% lows, 5070 with 12gb is a joke, performance is a joke too.
Only thing going for them is path tracing, which seems to be a feature targeting 5090/4090. Else play with horrible framerates, add some fake frames or use lower resolutions and bad image quality.
I don't like to play games even at 60 these days and hate blurry graphics, so no thank you. How many games do we have with path tracing anyway ..
I think nvidia may have decided to dedicate fewer resources for consumer gpu research/development looking at how many issues they have this time and how this black screen issue needed multiple hotfixes.
I also just dont get people buying 5090, even though smart people are telling you that it is a fire hazard and is worse than 4090. They did not fix shit.
Me - sticking with 3080 for now. That gpu was from 2020 ( i bought in 2022) and there is still nothing that tempting an upgrade at the same price even today - 700$.
Only vram is on low side, so i stick to games that dont need as much.
I will wait for 9080 xt ( just in case) or 10070xt/10080xt probably at reasonable prices. Dont expect too much from Nvdia if AI demands stays high.
TSMC seems to be a bottleneck too - probably the biggest reason for gpu supply issues as AI demand takes priority.
Hopefully intel/samsung/other catch up and supply increases.
