News NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Is 2x Faster Than 4080 At $999, RTX 5070 Ti 2x Faster Than 4070 Ti At $769, RTX 5070 Faster Than 4090 For $549

Genuine questions deserve genuine guesses

For new/mint condition cards in a stable market (INR estimates):
  • RTX 5080 – Likely around ₹1.4 – 2 lakh
  • RTX 5090 – Probably in the ₹3.6+ lakh range
  • RTX 4090 – will be hard to find, given that everyone is trying to clear their stock
Used 4090s (depending on age, warranty, and condition):
  • 1-year-old – Around ₹1.4L – ₹1.6L (5080 is still no where near 4090)
  • Given the absurd pricing, I will not sell my 4090 and downgrade to a 5080. Because that is what I will get by selling a 4090. Cheapest 5090 is from Zotac at 3.6L.
You're totally on point—if second-hand 4080 Supers or 4090s start hitting OLX or local markets in bulk (especially post 50-series launch), we might see some juicy deals. Could be a great time to wait and grab a high-VRAM beast for cheap
I've got a negative feeling that we won't see 4080s hitting used as there is no incentive for a 4080 4070ti super or 4090 user to upgrade to anything. Sure occasional ones might arrive but no way it would be a healthy number. I'm hopeful tho that we will see more msrp plus minus 10k stuff from official retailers itself.

As long as we are guessing, I don't think 5080 will stay that high. Supers will hopefully bring about a substantial price cut.

iirc 5080 is priced ~30% higher than 5070ti officially (official - yes, lol i know). and 9070xt (which delivers ~5070ti performance) is expected to stabilize at ~65k
the value of 5080 is so damn low with that into the equation, i really dont see how demand can sustain for that price.

No we believe you, and it still shows in stock. I thought fenix meant it in sarcastic/pun/jk intended way n i replied in sarcastic/pun/jk intended way
Not making fun of a fellow forum pal, but when I checked, it showed to send query. Plus Rashi peripherals are money mongers. I recall my horror experience with them during crypto mania.

Not making fun of a fellow forum pal,
No I didn't mean that way.

I would like to know more about it!
If u have shared it already here, plz tell me the direction!

I would absolutely believe Fenix had I not enquired. There are 5080s selling for more than this 4090. It's insane out there lol.
Yep it's insane out there ( referring to attached images a friend shared with me )

It's okay to make fun of a fellow forum pal lol. This country takes too much offence on non sequitor already. TE should be chill.
No offence to anybody.
AMD 9070 GPUs are available abundantly everywhere but RTX40xx & RTX50xxs were made to look that not many were available so as to increase the price and create demand for them. This nvidia boss does all kinds of dirty tricks even though nvidia is selling their AI GPUs for enterprise sector very well. What they lost in consumer GPUs sales they gained in enterprise GPUs sales.

They've made back what they lost and much more. Even in the Indian market there are companies wanting to buy thousands of chips at $35k+ each, and nvidia's response is to get in line.

It looks I should sell my liver now for a 5090 because it will grow back.
Or buy a used Alto for that price.
No offence to anybody.

Controlled supply and fake demand.

I wonder if people are really rich or I'm just too poor.
The only means to counter this scumbag tactic is to not buy them. And while many whined about it and complained online about how it is such a scummy move for Nvidia to create a faux artificial supply/stock problem, many (and possibly even those who whined) still went and bought anyway and even f'n showed off on social media. Basically doing the exact thing which they were complaining about. So how do you expect Nvidia to react then? Jensen Huang is a better marketeer than Steve Jobs and Tim Cook! That's exactly why he is one of the top richest in the world now.
Personally for me I don't see any reason to upgrade for 3x series owners.

The supply issue is not artificial, there's only so much chip capacity to distribute. If nvidia tried to increase 50 series supply, they would be taking it from their server chips, which makes no sense for them financially.

At the end of the day, nvidia is publicly traded. If Jensen ever made the decision to favour gamers over data centres, he would be replaced the next day. Partly because no one knows how impactful AI actually is, so they have to sell hard while it's the hot new thing.

The real solution to depress chip prices is to increase fab capacity, which I don't think is happening any time soon.

3070 and below to 9070xt is a nice jump at msrp if it ever gets there here.

Nvidia yeah - prices are insane, they dont have interest in supplying as AI gives better margin. Perhaps they might even exit if AI demand is proven to be durable, who knows.
Even if price was right they are broken for me - 5090/5080 have fire risk, 5070ti/5070 seem to have bad drivers/bad 1% lows, 5070 with 12gb is a joke, performance is a joke too.

Only thing going for them is path tracing, which seems to be a feature targeting 5090/4090. Else play with horrible framerates, add some fake frames or use lower resolutions and bad image quality.
I don't like to play games even at 60 these days and hate blurry graphics, so no thank you. How many games do we have with path tracing anyway ..

I think nvidia may have decided to dedicate fewer resources for consumer gpu research/development looking at how many issues they have this time and how this black screen issue needed multiple hotfixes.
I also just dont get people buying 5090, even though smart people are telling you that it is a fire hazard and is worse than 4090. They did not fix shit.

Me - sticking with 3080 for now. That gpu was from 2020 ( i bought in 2022) and there is still nothing that tempting an upgrade at the same price even today - 700$.
Only vram is on low side, so i stick to games that dont need as much.

I will wait for 9080 xt ( just in case) or 10070xt/10080xt probably at reasonable prices. Dont expect too much from Nvdia if AI demands stays high.
TSMC seems to be a bottleneck too - probably the biggest reason for gpu supply issues as AI demand takes priority.
Hopefully intel/samsung/other catch up and supply increases.

I mean from 3x to 5x. The performance of the 5x seem to be a farce to me. The top models like 5080/5090 will obviously be noticeable but at their asking price? No way!
