Nvidia introduced its Nvidia DualTV tuner, a TV tuner for PCs that offers two TV tuners on a single card with comprehensive personal video recording functionality, unique MediaSqueeze disk space saving technology, and support for the Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) operating system.
Features & Specs :
Two tuners are ready to receive and record analogue broadcasts around the world. Nvidia has two versions: the NTSC-supporting part unveiled this week and a PAL/SECAM model.
Nvidia has applied its renowned PureVideo technology to the DualTV tuner enabling the highest possible picture quality on a PC to date. In addition to PureVideo, the Nvidia DualTV tuner features a 3D comb filter, to create high-quality color separations and enhance image detail, 3D noise reduction hardware, an in-line TV amplifier and multi-stream hardware encoder.
The Nvidia DualTV tuner offers a unique MediaSqueeze technology that allows users to store more of their favorite TV programs on their hard disk, DVD, or portable media player. Users can record live TV shows at a lower bit-rate than normal or "transrate" previously-recorded TV programs into a lower bit-rate to preserve disk space, without significant loss in picture quality, according to the company.
The card ships with an S-video, composite video, co-axial and set of audio cables, along with a variety of adaptors and cable splitters. There's an FM antenna in the box too.
Price :
The NTSC DualTV is available in the US now for around $169. Nvidia said the PAL version is almost certainly not going to make an appearance in the UK thanks to the government mandated switch over to digital at the end of the decade. Our forecast: expect the announcement of a digital product in due course.
