Which among these is the best program to check PC stability. Most people use Prime95 but while going through a thread at XtremeSystem I found that OCCT is better. OCCT, in fact catches errors faster. Most people there said a 2 hour OCCT-stable system is similar to 24 hour prime stable system.

New OCCT also has:

* CPU OCCT : The classical OCCT CPU tests. The modes "CPU, RAM, and Mix" have been renamed to match more closely their roles to "Low, Medium and Large data sets".
* Linpack : The very same test that Intel Burn Test, based on an Intel library, that will make your CPU hotter than never before.
* GPU 3D : OCCT GPU, a home-made 3d program that will make your GPU hotter than anything else (even furmark), and sports an error-checking mode just as ATITool.
* GPU Memtest : A GPU memory memtest based on CUDA. Very useful as well, but in practice, it is better at detecting manufacturing errors, and not overclocking errors.
* Power Supply : This test is actually Linpack combined with OCCT GPU. It aims at loading your power supply, and results shows that it uses 20% more power than Crysis and 25% than 3dmark BEWARE, THIS TEST IS REALLY HARD ON YOUR POWER SUPPLY, IT COULD MELT IT EASILY ! DO NOT USE IT IF YOU HAVE A "NO NAME" POWER SUPPLY !
OCCT Perestroika - 3.0.0.b04 released ! Stable : 2.0.1 - XtremeSystems Forums
I, on the other hand, have only used Orthos so far :ashamed:

me too use OCCT only now, very good tool.

Also try SuperPrime.

IBT (Intel Burn Test) Linpack, is insane too, dont try on stock cooler etc.

But IBT Linpack is inbuilt in OCCT now... is it same thing

been using OCCT for a while now.

nothing wrong with using LinPack :P

if your system can't take the heat, it'll shutdown. simple as that.

or blow a mosfet off, linpack is insane just like furmark that caused death of many 4870.damn i am afraid to even run orthos, temps creep to 70C under 15seconds.:P

With CCF, my E7300 @ stock is loading at 50 degrees with Orthos. Will run Linpack to see where they go.

As for Furmark, 4850 Sonic's cooler keep the card around 67 degrees with GPU overclocked to 735 hz :ohyeah:

If i recollect my old OC Days.

1.> After a tweak in the BIOS

First thing i ran was memtest.

2.1>I ran Prime 95 for 6Hrs Min To 2Days Max [Small FFT]

2.2>If you want a quick test then OCCT 30Mins is also gr8 but it shouldn't halt in between at all , if it halts i immediately used to underclock to previous.

2 Hours OCCT = 24 hours of Prime95??

Coz once i encountered a problem with a system (dnt remember the exact config, the proc was a E6400 OC'd at 2.8Ghz i think), it was running OCCT stable for 2 hours, but failed prime95 after some 5 hours or so.. I've repeated prime95 several times but it wont go much more than 5hours, while it would do 2 hours OCCT easily..

gamervivek's card stays under 65deg. with 850 core at load :)
give it some mx-2 loving

What's the need to push GPU core anymore... the memory doesn't budge even 5Mhz extra

I dont think so.. run both, see temp difference, IBT is bloody insane! I dont touch it now

OCCT FTW ;)

Not really, if cpu heats very much but is just a litte short of shutting down then it will degrade cpu. Many ppl in XS degraded their chips like this... :(

Damn nice info, not more than 10 mins FUR benching for me now and will do only when needed :cool2:

Thanks.

Yaar one hour OCCT stable more than enough IMO. We usually donet strees our systems that hard doing day-to-day work lol.... why test uselessly and degrade hardware......:P
