Graphic Cards *OFFICIAL* ZOTAC GeForce GTX 680 in Kepler series launches in India today!

I dont know what people are thinking. Some of the companies must know that the Internet has reached India right?

I mean, we are no more in the dark ages where such things were common, simply because I had no way of knowing the price of an item half way around the world. I find it really difficult to understand these companies when they do this.

Its not that they are just pricing it high they must be incurring taxes and stuff when they are getting this into the country through official channels.

I had a word with one of the Zotac sales managers and according to him the card is priced at 32999 + tax and availability will be first week of April (April 4). The cards are apparently stuck in customs and will not be cleared till April 2 because the increase in tax will be effective from April and so the customs guys want to charge more tax.

I don't understand this logic of the distributors. They say the stuffs are pricier than US because they have to bear shipping charges + import taxes. Do they really have to import all the computer peripherals from US ? As far as I know, most of them are produced in Asia. So, the final price in US are including of shipping to US plus US import tax which I'm sure will be at least same if not higher than India. Hence, the stuffs actually should be cheaper than US price even after the distributors/dealers keep the same margins as US dealers.

That means 32999 + Taxes,Lets say the final price then reaches close to 35k which shows that there is a price diffenece of 10k between Us and india pricing.Does that mean 10k premium is just for customs,shipping,taxes....

endless shit India is a price sensitive market and if they want to create a price diffenece between their current generation flagship GTX580 and the later which i can't understand.?? i think it will take some time till prices came down to 25 - 26k which is the right price to buy

Actually I told the Zotac guy that the price is too much and he was like well there is import tax and distributor network and then retailers and they all need to make money so hence the price.

Well, the computer peripherals distributors are dumb enough not to see that it actually causing less profit for them. Everyone wants to make money in short time and hence they miss the bigger picture :/

Well if that is the case, how did I manage to get an HD7970 which costs 550$ for 32k+vat?

.

This is all bs and everyone in the supply chain wants their pound of flesh.

I thought Zotac used to be like 10-15% cheaper compared to other brands. What is the pricing for other brands?

If it launches for like 35k all inclusive in India, it will probably settle down around 29-31k after 2-3 months or so. Don't expect it under 25k, it may never happen or may happen so late that the next upgrade is pretty near.
