Monitors OLED Monitors

Approximately how long does this process take, and how often does it occur? I've heard of similar issues with Acer OLEDs as well...

It's not too bad because there are multiple reminder alerts on-screen at regular intervals (every 4 hours I guess) and after the final 16-hour limit, it triggers (again after alerting you 30, then 1 minutes beforehand) and the actual process takes 5 minutes.

It can be a major nuisance if you are in the middle of, say, an office VC meeting or a gaming session, but workaround is to simple run the thing manually just before any important session.

It seems there will be firmware update (soon for my model 321UP) to increase the limit from 16 to 24 hours, already released for some other models.

Some time ago I had asked for recommendations for an OLED monitor. Initially I wanted an Ultrawide, but finally settled on Alienware AW3225QF. I purchased it a while ago but I thought I would update here. Cost me a little less than 80k after all discounts. I'd say I am very pleased with this monitor. Only problem is I can't fit my center speaker under the display as the joystick is there, so had to settle for a ghost center speaker.

What would you guys suggest as a better option between 27 1440p oled or 32 4k oled? Given my gpu can't handle 4k native do you think 1440p would look good on a 4k monitor?

Yes. Windows is very good at scaling. You would set the resolution on Windows as 4K and scale it to 150%. You can set a rendering resolution for games differently. Most newer games have inbuilt settings to render at lower resolution while keeping the output at 4K.
Text will look much better with a 4K screen scaled to 150% compared to 1440p at 100% scale.

So then it makes better sense to save up and get a 32 4k monitor even if I can't output native 4k in AAA games from my gpu. I am running 3080ti for reference and have been confused as to which one to get for a very long time hence the question.

Do you use joystick a lot? I would add the center and move it when I use the joystick, once in a blue moon. The monitor goes to sleep on its own so I don't see a reason to use the joystick frequently.

Yes. No question. For games, even if you have to set the resolution to 1440p, you can't see the difference compared to a native 1440p monitor. You can definitely tell in text but not in games. For desktop work, you would set the resolution to 4K and scaling to 150% or 125% for a 32 inch whichever feels better to you.
