Olympics Paris 2024

Vinesh Phogat's verdict by CAS which was supposed to be given tonight has now been delayed to August 16th (9:30PM - IST).

Fortunately there was comparatively less interruption with ads on Jio, which made it more enjoyable. Otherwise, I feel the coverage by Jio is total waste of time. Even highlights are peppered with unskippable 20 second ads.

On a different note, I watched the break dance competition for some time yesterday. It reminded me of the numerous dance-offs that were trending in the 80s in Indian cinema. :p I have no idea why and how it was included in the Olympics, but was surprised to see representation from a variety of countries.

Breaking or breakdancing started on the New York streets in 70s and of course became part of multiple cultures through the 80s. Most of the top performers didn't bother with the Olympics and you usually see them in the Red Bull events. The joke on the web is that they skipped it because most would fail drug tests. Even then, the latter rounds on Olympics were watchable. But good that they got rid of it for 2028.

Jio was generally unwatchable but that is what you get for free. At least the sport specific streams were less peppered with ads than the main stream. Otherwise, I watched a good portion of non-Indian content on iPlayer.

Am i even allowed to talk here without people gatekeeing? I thought there were some far left self made super mods here who gatekeep threads on general talk.

And to answer your question - why ask me?

You like making fun of India so why bother? I don't understand the mindset of people living in India and making fun of India and even bashing India like you are lifelong enemies of the country. We don't need Pakistanis or Bangladeshis living illegally in India and badmouthing India when we have Indians living in India and doing more harm than them. No wonder India was ruled by the British for hundreds of years. We Indians will never change i guess.
